Kobe Pro Wrestling Festival Shun Skywalker KZY

Dragon Gate Pro Wrestling holds their annual Kobe Pro Wrestling Festival event, but this year, it’s two days! It’s a somber note, however, as Dragon Gate says goodbye to Masato Yoshino on these two days. However, they still have Day 1 that’s filled with action. Here is what to expect on Speed Star Day 1.

Open the Triangle Gate Championship Match: Dragon Dia, Jason Lee, and La Estrella (c) vs SB KENTo, Diamante, and Dia Inferno

Dia Inferno was brought to Dragon Gate by R.E.D. with no other purpose but to take out Dragon Dia. The two had a singles match, but it ended in a DQ. It became very clear, very quickly, that Dia Inferno did not care about winning a match. He only cared about vanquishing Dragon Dia. A R.E.D. win put Dragon Dia and Dia Inferno back at odds. This time, the Open the Triangle Gate titles are in the situation. This match is very much a tale of two contests. Although SB KENTo and Jason Lee have an ongoing social media feud, they, along with La Estrella and Diamanté, are focused on the Triangle Gate belts.

They simply want to be champions and move onto Day 2 to defend the belts. Meanwhile, Dia Inferno and Dragon Dia look to write a new chapter in their very violent story.

Open the Brave Gate Championship: Keisuke Okuda (c) vs Genki Horiguchi

Genki Horiguchi had his homecoming event; in the main event, he got a pinfall over Keisuke Okuda. Horiguchi took to the mic, talking about how great the members of Natural Vibes were doing. He then challenged Okuda for the Open the Brave Gate Championship. Horiguchi proceeded to talk about how this could be his last ever singles title match. With that in mind, he endeavors to capture the Open the Brave Gate Championship. Horiguchi has been champion on three other occasions.

Keisuke Okuda is looking to make his sixth successful defense. He even looked past Horiguchi, accepting a title challenge from Kagetora on Day 2. Horiguchi reminded him that he is not one to be overlooked and he will be the one heading on to Day 2. Can Horiguchi create magic once again, or will Okuda shut him down?

Open the Dream Gate Championship: Shun Skywalker (c) vs KZY

KZY has been wrestling since 2006 and his climb has been a long one. He went from being one of the most hated heels to one of the most beloved babyfaces in his 2015 face turn. After Akira Tozawa left, KZY felt the need to take that next step in his career. In 2018, he formed his own unit. However, the generation war of 2020 led to KZY being in a slump and there was concern around his career. However, he picked himself back up and finally won King of Gate. Now, he has the chance in his first Kobe World main event to become Open the Dream Gate Champion.

However, Shun Skywalker has been on fire since his return from excursion. KZY’s dream is truly at stake but Skywalker can crush it. Skywalker is aiming for his fifth defense of the Dream Gate Championship. One point of note is that the winner has YAMATO gazing a hole through them on Day 2. The question is, will Skywalker continue to fly over the sky as Open the Dream Gate Champion, or is it finally KZY’s time?
