At Slammiversary 2021, following the singles match between W. Morrissey and Eddie Edwards, the IMPACT Wrestling faithful was greeted with a vignette for a newcomer. The video showed an individual, not pictured onscreen, writing a phrase on a sheet of cardboard: “Long Live the King.” However, the individual would soon write the word “drama” in the center, the phrase now reading, “Long Live the Drama King.” This would seem to indicate that “The Drama King” Matt Rehwoldt, formerly known in World Wrestling Entertainment as Aiden English, is bound for IMPACT.

Matt Rehwoldt may be best known for his time in WWE, where he signed in 2012 before being released in April of 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic. As Aiden English, he achieved modest success in NXT, specifically alongside Simon Gotch as The Vaudevillains. Together, they would win the NXT Tag Team Championship. From there, they made their way to the main roster, continuing to team until Gotch’s release from the company in 2017. English would find popularity alongside a new partner. This time, it was Rusev; together, they brought life to the fan-favorite “Rusev Day” stint. English would remain a regular in-ring competitor for WWE until January of 2019, when he was shifted to commentary, calling the action largely for 205 Live.
Following his release from WWE, Rehwoldt shifted his focus to independent wrestling and personal endeavors alike. In terms of the former, he worked matches for such organizations as Zelo Pro Wrestling and Pennsylvania Premiere Wrestling. “The Drama King’s” official IMPACT Wrestling, as of this writing, has yet to be announced.
