ROH Board of Directors member Maria Kanellis unveiled the new ROH Women’s World Championship belt and the complete bracket for the tournament to crown the first champion. The tournament will kick off soon on ROH TV and will conclude later this year at Death Before Dishonor. As Kanellis showed the official bracket for the event, she noted that Vita Von Starr had been removed from the tournament due to her attack on Matt Taven during his match with Dutch.
Kanellis did not officially announce a replacement tonight, but this was when Chelsea Green made her way to the ROH stage. Although Green was not cleared to compete tonight due to an injured arm, she addressed the live crowd and the ROH roster in a live promo. This marks Green’s first appearance since she was released from WWE earlier this year. It seems very possible that she is the replacement but that was not confirmed.
Ring of Honor has not had a Women’s Champion since the Women of Honor Championship was retired at the end of 2019. Kelly Klien was the last person to hold the title.
