#AndNEW: Chris Adonis Wins NWA National Championship

NWA Powerrr 7/6/21 Chris Adonis JTG

On tonight’s episode of NWA Powerrr, a new NWA National Champion was decided. Having won their qualifying matches in the weeks prior, Chris Adonis met JTG in the main event for the vacant NWA National Championship. Since May, the title has been without a holder, with Adonis previously vacating it to participate in a battle royal for number one contendership for the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship. Needless to say, the battle between “The Masterpiece” and “J Tha Gawd” was an important one. By the time the closing bell sounded, it was Adonis that emerged the new NWA National Champion.

In the early going, Adonis focused on his trademark power game. Meanwhile, JTG relied on technical wrestling, keeping “The Masterpiece” grounded as much as possible. Adonis seemed to have the control from there. However, JTG’s snappier offense came into play, executing his signature sling blade. Adonis would cut off JTG once again, hitting a double underhook suplex. He even mocked the studio audience as they chanted for JTG, firmly behind “Tha Gawd” himself. From there, “The Masterpiece” remained in control, taunting his opponent as he attempted to build momentum. However, a clothesline from JTG opened an opportunity for hope. JTG built a wave of momentum, hitting a big neckbreaker for a nearfall.

Adonis would catch JTG with the Masterlock. Despite an initial struggle, JTG would start to fade. Fred Rosser, who JTG formed a friendship with, rushed out to ringside to surrender on his friend’s behalf. The referee called for the bell, awarding Chris Adonis with his second-ever NWA National Championship. On commentary, former NWA National Champion Trevor Murdoch questioned Rosser, who said he had to protect his friend, as he was on the verge of passing out. Tune into NWA Powerrr as his story develops.
