KUSHIDA has been the perfect choice for NXT Cruiserweight Champion and his open challenge has been a blessing for NXT fans. The first was answered by Oney Lorcan while the second saw the debuting Carmelo Hayes take him on. Anything was possible with this open challenge and once again another man decided to step up. This time, it was Trey Baxter (formerly known as Blake Christian). His athletic prowess was not only impressive, but it gave KUSHIDA something to think about from beginning to end. Baxter gave a great effort, showing off with a Spanish Fly on KUSHIDA, and even channeled Will Ospreay on a handspring kick to the skull of the champion. There was a real chance here for Baxter, but the champion managed to lock in the Hoverboard Lock to win the match.

It was another showing that allowed KUSHIDA to show the world he is one of the best in the world and that the Cruiserweight Championship is not going anywhere any time soon. Baxter is going to be a fantastic fixture moving forward on both 205 Live and NXT with potential that has no limit.
