The National Wrestling Alliance returns to FITE with a supershow. This week, NWA Super Powerrr will feature competitive action and words shared from the promotion’s top names alike. With NWA When Our Shadows Fall set to take place early next month, fans should expect to see the card round out in the weeks to come. Here’s what on tap for episode #27 of NWA Super Powerrr.
Matt Cross vs. Matthew Mims (NWA World Television Championship Qualifying Match)
One of the matches set for NWA Super Powerrr will pit Matt Cross against Matthew Mims. Most recently, on episode #25 of NWA Powerrr, Cross was involved in a three-way match to determine a number one contender for the NWA World Television Championship, which was won by Tyrus. Meanwhile, Mims has seen his share of recent success in the promotion. On the first episode of NWA PowerrrSurge, Mims defeated Jeremiah Plunkett in a showcase match. This is an intriguing match-up for those that are familiar with both competitors. Furthermore, this is an opportunity that either man could benefit from.
The current reigning NWA World Television Champion, The Pope, will undoubtedly be watching this match from afar. Late last month, he faced Tyrus in a match that ended in a no-contest. The Pope was able to escape the power and might of his physically imposing adversary, moving onward to the next challenge. Despite who comes out victorious in this match-up, expect the charismatic World TV Champion to be at the top of his game.
Thunder Rosa and Kamille Speak on NWA Super Powerrr
On the previous episode of NWA Powerrr, Thunder Rosa and Kamille expressed themselves through vocal advocates in Melina and Taryn Terrell, respectively. The discussion took a turn for the worst when Kamille, via Terrell, accused Rosa of being jealous. This would eventually result in attempted fisticuffs, ending the segment in a less than cordial fashion. Though Kamille is still the official number one contender for the NWA World Women’s Championship, Rosa’s success in not just the NWA but All Elite Wrestling has positioned her on a similar level, much to the chagrin of the blonde-haired powerhouse of Strictly Business.
On episode #2 of NWA PowerrrSurge, Rosa reiterated her stance on Kamille’s cowardice. On this week’s show, what will the two rivals have to say? Smart money is on Kamille focusing her attention on “La Mera Mera,” with who she has locked horns time and time again, as history showed. This isn’t to say that her focus should be entirely focused on Rosa, especially with current NWA World Women’s Champion, Serena Deeb, on the horizon. Deeb has been recovering from a knee injury since March, but once she’s well, expect her to be the main target of Kamille moving forward. Rosa and Kamille will meet in a summit, live and uncensored.
Jax Dane vs. Slice Boogie (Falls Count Anywhere Match)
Since NWA Back for the Attack this past March, Jax Dane and Slice Boogie have crossed paths on multiple occasions. At the pay-per-view in question, Boogie stood tall in a four-way match that also included Dane. Two weeks later, on NWA Powerrr, Boogie teamed with Matthew Mims in a winning effort against Dane and Crimson, collectively known as The War Kings. Most recently, they exchanged words in the NWA studio. It was made clear that while Boogie was climbing the ranks of the promotion, Dane was faltering, which only frustrated the latter.
It’s easy to see why this is the case, too. Longtime fans of the promotion will know that Dane is a former NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion, an accolade he enjoyed from August of 2015 to October of 2016. Along the way, he overcame the likes of Rob Conway and NJPW legend Hiroyoshi Tenzan. Dane’s recent success in the NWA, however, has been lacking. Boogie only began wrestling in 2018, but thus far, he has shown tremendous promise. When Dane and Boogie finally clash in singles action, under Falls Out Anywhere rules, expect nothing short of a hard-hitting encounter.
NWA World Tag Team Championship: Thom Latimer and Chris Adonis vs. Aron Stevens and Kratos (c)
This week’s NWA Super Powerrr main event will see the promotion’s World Tag Team Championship on the line. The last time these teams met was under unfortunate circumstances. On episode #26 of NWA Powerrr, Thom Latimer and Chris Adonis of Strictly Business teamed with Kratos to face Aron Stevens, Tim Storm, and Trevor Murdoch; if Murdoch’s team lost, he would be banished from the NWA for 30 days. Despite his team’s best efforts, Murdoch was forced to step away. Now, with Kratos back on the side of his partner, the NWA World Tag Team Champions will defend against Strictly Business.
The NWA World Tag Team Championship isn’t foreign to Strictly Business. For a brief period, in 2019, Latimer and Royce Isaacs were the reigning champions. Therefore, one would think that Strictly Business may enter this match with the advantage. However, keep in mind that Kratos and Stevens, despite the limited amount of time they’ve teamed together, have been formidable. It’s important to note, though, that recent issues within the tandem will put their title reign at risk. The stakes couldn’t be higher heading into this NWA Super Powerrr main event.
Other Events to Expect on NWA Super Powerrr
Sal Rinauro vs. Kratos – Slated for a rematch will be the NWA’s cult hero, Sal Rinauro, and one-half of the NWA World Tag Team Champions, Kratos. It would seem that if Rinauro didn’t have Kratos’ number, he’s been able to escape disaster. Their problems stemmed from events this past April, which saw Tim Storm stand alongside Rinauro to confront Kratos and his tag team partner, Aron Stevens, who seemed to be caught up in the proverbial whirlwind. Later in the month, Rinauro met Kratos in a match that ended in a no-contest. Will their second singles encounter yield a conclusive victory?
Nick Aldis Addresses Ten Pounds of Gold Bombshell – Nick Aldis will be present on this week’s episode to address his Ten Pounds of Gold bombshell. Recently, the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion saw success when he successfully banished Trevor Murdoch from the company for one calendar month. He’s also been involved in a recruiting process for Strictly Business, looking to expand the group’s numbers. What will Aldis have to say regarding his beloved title? Tune into this week’s episode of NWA Super Powerrr to find out.
