#AndNEW: AJ Styles and Omos Win RAW Tag Team Championship

AJ Styles and Omos RAW Tag Team Championship

On Night One of WrestleMania 37, AJ Styles and Omos challenged The New Day, Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston, for the RAW Tag Team Championship. These two teams have been at odds for weeks. Between the joking demeanor of the champions and the more serious approach of the challengers, these two duos couldn’t be any more different. Following weeks of tension and animosity, not to mention devastating power from Omos, their rivalry came to a head on this night. By the end of the match, new RAW Tag Team Champions were crowned in AJ Styles and Omos.

Since their formation this past October, AJ Styles and Omos developed a solid strategy. This would often see Styles play the wily veteran, utilizing his experience to get the better of his opponents. Like any wrestler, regardless of experience level, Styles would find himself in peril during matches. This would lead to Omos, often standing at ringside, looming over Styles’ opponents and even becoming physically involved. Their challengers weren’t to be overlooked, though. Heading into this WrestleMania 37 showdown, The New Day were the record-breaking 11-time tag team champions. Thus, the victory in question is that much more impressive for AJ Styles and Omos.

With this victory, AJ Styles and Omos have become the RAW Tag Team Champions for the first time. This is the first time that Styles has won tag team gold in WWE. Since his debut in 2016, Styles has been a successful singles star, being a one-time Intercontinental Champion, three-time United States Champion, and most importantly, two-time WWE Champion. This victory also makes him a Grand Slam Champion in WWE. Meanwhile, on this night, Omos won his first-ever title in WWE, on the big stage of WrestleMania 37, at that. Expect to see various teams on RAW, including the former titleholders The New Day, step up to the new champions. Between the speed and experience of Styles and the power and sheer presence of Omos, the champions will prove difficult to dethrone.
