Kris Statlander, Trent Return in AEW Dynamite Main Event

Kris Statlander & Trent return

One of the longest-running feuds in All Elite Wrestling (AEW), between the Best Friends and “The Wedding Party” troop of Miro, Kip Sabian, and Penelope Ford, hit a monstrous climax this past Wednesday on AEW Dynamite.  In late 2020, Trent from Best Friends ruined one of Miro’s stand-up video games, and ever since, Trent and his two Best Friends, Chuck Taylor & Orange Cassidy, have gone to war with Miro, Sabian, and Ford. In December, Trent was injured by Miro and departed AEW television for months, leading to Chuck Taylor losing in a match to defend Trent’s honor and having to become Miro’s butler. During Kip Sabian and Penelope Ford’s wedding in February, Taylor finally freed himself from Miro’s employ with the help of Orange Cassidy, destroying the wedding. The feud exploded on Wednesday with an Arcade Anarchy match, essentially a hardcore falls-count-anywhere match, that had explosive results for both sides, including two shocking returns in not only Trent but Kris Statlander as well.

Late in the match, Penelope Ford finally inserted herself into the action, pulling referee Aubrey Edwards from the ring mid-count. But from the UFO Claw game at ringside emerged AEW’s resident alien, Kris Statlander. It was the first time Statlander has been seen in AEW since being injured in June of last year, ironically, in a tag match against Penelope Ford. However, her return to face Penelope Ford, in assistance to Best Friends, may not seem as random as it first looks. Viewers of The Young BucksBeing The Elite YouTube show have seen Statlander part of the show for months now, and on the Valentine’s Day special in mid-February, she expressed her fondness for Orange Cassidy, even writing a special Valentine’s Day song for him in an alien-human moment of trying to understand courtship.

As if the return of Kris Statlander after nine months off due to injury wasn’t enough, shortly after Kris Statlander’s return, Best Friends received yet another piece of help, in the form of Sue pulling up in her mini-van to drop off her son Trent to Daily’s Place. After four months off for a partially torn pec, Trent made his return to AEW and immediately shifted the balance of power back to Best Friends.

Best Friends picked up the victory, finally stopping Miro and Kip Sabian’s reign of terror. The real question remains: will Orange Cassidy ever find out about Kris Statlander’s unrequited love? Additionally, is “The Galaxy’s Greatest Alien” now a Best Friend?
