Preview: Ring of Honor – ROH TV #495 (3/12/21)

ROH TV #495 Card Flamita vs Flip Gordon

Ring of Honor television returns for another action-packed hour of wrestling. Let’s take a look at what ROH has in store for ROH TV #495.

ROH TV #495 Full Card

Flip Gordon vs Flamita

Flamita has been searching for revenge against “The Mercenary” Flip Gordon for over a year now. Gordon defeated Flamita at the January 2020 edition of Honor Reigns Supreme. After the match, Gordon ripped off the mask of Flamita. This is seen as the ultimate disrespect to a luchador and goes against the honor that ROH has prided itself on since its inception. The two will settle their differences on this edition of Ring of Honor television.

Flamita is a 3rd generation professional wrestler who has worked for promotions such as AAA, DTU, and Dragon Gate. Those unfamiliar with his work can look forward to his exciting high-flying style. Flip Gordon has been with ROH since 2017 and has worked with NJPW, CMLL, and CZW. He turned heel in 2019 when he became “The Mercenary” as part of Villan Enterprises.

Kenny King vs Tony Deppen

A match with Television Title implications as Kenny King and Tony Deppen face off. Deppen challenged King’s La Faccion Ingobernable stablemate and current Television Champion Dragon Lee in December. Both men are ranked in the top five of the Television Title contenders and a win for Deppen would put him right back in title contention.

King and Lee are the current ROH tag team champions making Lee a double champion in the promotion. King first debuted in ROH in 2007 and worked with the promotion until 2012. He returned to the promotion in 2015 and joined LFI at the end of 2019. He has also worked for TNA and Full Impact Pro. Deppen is a freelancer who has worked for Chikara, GCW, and Beyond Wrestling among other promotions.

Pure Division – Dak Draper vs Fred Yehi

Ring of Honor television will have one pure rules match for the weekend of 3/13 show. Dak Draper will take on Fred Yehi in the third match of the show. Draper is currently ranked number one in the Pure rankings. A win here would put him in a good position to face current Pure Champion Jonathon Gresham. Yehi is looking to climb back into the top five rankings. A win against Draper would help him climb back into the rankings.

Draper is a freelancer who has previously worked for NXT, NRW Pro Wrestling, and NWL. Yehi has previously worked for Evolve, and Full Impact Pro before settling into the Pure Division with ROH.

Pure rules matches have a 20-minute time limit, only allow three rope breaks, and bans closed fist strikes to the head. Competitors are encouraged to adhere to the code of honor, and any bout that goes past 20 minutes will go to a panel of judges to decide the winner.
