Dragon Gate News: Ben-K Returns and Twin Gate Championship Contenders Tournament (01/30/21)

Ben-K Dragon Gate

Big January Dragon Gate news coming in for this weekend. This has been a rather quiet start of a year for Dragon Gate apart from a few minor details. They have turned it up, though, as February is less than a few days away.

Ben-K is Back in Dragon Gate

Dragon Gate announced that Ben-K would be returning this weekend. Ben-K has been out since The Final Gate 2020, where he challenged Shun Skywalker for the Open The Dream Gate Championship. During the match, Ben-K was accidentally concussed. Afterward, they took him out of action for a period. Recently, they announced that he would be competing this weekend. Hopefully, he is 100 percent and ready to go.

Open The Twin Gate Championship Contenders Tournament

Dragon Gate also announced an Open The Twin Gate Championship Number One Contenders Tournament. This one-day tournament will take place on January 31st. As Dragon Gate will be running two shows that day, the winners will challenge current champions BxB Hulk and KAI of R.E.D. The teams announced for this tournament are as follows: Ben-K and Shuji Kondo, YAMATO and Dragon Kid, Masaaki Mochizuki and Takashi Yoshida, Bokutimo Dragon and Punch Tominaga, Kagetora and Yosuke Santa Maria, Jason Lee and La Estrella, U-T and TBD, and lastly, Eita and Diamanté. U-T was scheduled to team with fellow Natural Vibes team member Taketo Kamei. However, he suffered a shoulder injury during training; as of this writing, there has been no replacement announced. With the show being three hours from the time of this writing, it’s fair to assume that the replacement will be announced at bell time. It would also be safe to assume it’ll be a Natural Vibes member. The only way to find out is to tune in.
