Nick Comoroto Is AEWs Next Breakout Star

Nick Comoroto AEW

On the January 20th, 2021 edition of AEW Dynamite Jon Moxley wrestled Nick Comoroto.  This was Comoroto’s Dynamite debut as he has been featured only on AEW Dark in recent months.  Many fans were instantly drawn in by Moxley’s burley opponent who shrugged off some of the former champions shots, it was only with a sleeper hold that Moxley could put the big man down.  This was Comoroto’s debut but he caught the eyes of fans and we believe he will be seen as AEW’s latest great discovery, after the additions of Wardlow and Powerhouse Hobbs proved to be great signings.  At 6 foot 3, 275 points, and with a background in collegiate wrestling Comoroto has all the tools to be a star.

Who Is Nick Comoroto?

Comoroto is a 9-year veteran of the squared circle.  He spent most of his early days competing for Monster Factory Pro Wrestling, a wrestling school known for its high-quality alumni.  Comoroto was relatively successful as he was a three-time tag team champion in MPFW and even held their world title, which he won in a match involving one Matt Riddle.

In 2017 Comoroto has his real breakout year as he competed in Ring Of Honor in some Future Of Honor matches, which included one dark match at the famous 2300 Arena.  That year Comoroto also made his debut for EVOLVE, he lost in two minutes, but as we know EVOLVE was a launchpad to WWE.  And that is exactly where he went as Comoroto joined WWE in 2019.  He competed in NXT as Nick Ogarelli on the live event loop, never making it to TV.

Known as the “freakbeast” and sporting a look similar to the Ultimate Warrior, colorful with boot tassels, he was put against other large competitors like Babatunde (Dabba-Kato), Damien Priest, and Luke Menzies.  He even briefly formed a team with Rik Bugez, formerly known as Eric Bugenhagen. By this point, he had changed up his look a few times in an effort to find something that stuck. He was put with a few other random partners towards the end of his run but no combination worked.  Nick Comoroto was then released as part of WWE’s April 2020 mass releases before turning up on AEW Dark in October.

Now the man who has drawn comparisons to Bruiser Brody, Pampero Firpo, and other legendary names seems to have found a home in AEW as they trusted him to wrestle and look good against their former world champion.  After a bumpy ride to get here Comoroto has the wrestling world at his feet.
