The KO-D Ten-Man Tag titles are a strange belt even by DDT standards. Introduced in 2017 there have only been three matches for the title with both of the champions vacating the straps. And now an even stranger chapter is written in the history of these titles. At Ultimate Party 2020 a new team won the belts but due to the COVID pandemic, it has proven itself even more difficult than normal to book ten-man tag matches. The champions vacated the titles and a press conference was held about the future of the titles.
At said press conference a match was made for the Kawasaki STRONG on 2/14, but some changes were made to the nature of the belt. The most major was that in the middle of this pandemic the KO-D Ten-Man Tag Titles would become the KO-D Eight-Man Tag Team titles in the interim as those would be more simple to book. There was heavy emphasis put that this was a temporary change and not anything permanent. It was also specified that the pink belt out of the multicolored range of belts would be the one retired in the interim.
While the full match for Kawasaki STRONG isn’t known, the captains of each of the teams were chosen. One team will be captained by current DDT Extreme champion Sanshiro Takagi while the other team will be captained by the man he beat Shinya Aoki. Aoki’s comments at the press conference swearing that he would get payback against Takagi for taking both his dignity and his title in weapons rumble for the Extreme title. Said Weapons Rumble consisted of not only the standard weapons fare, but took on some leaked Instagram DMs and secrets from both sides as weapons. Takagi in the meanwhile is confident having racked up many defenses of the Extreme title through his Street Fighting open challenge.
