Charlotte Flair Returns at WWE TLC, Becomes Women’s Tag Team Champion

Charlotte Flair WWE TLC

On last week’s episode of Monday Night RAW, Lana defeated Nia Jax in an upset. Post-match, an irate Jax and Shayna Baszler attacked Lana, incapacitating her. This attack by the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions ensured that Lana wouldn’t be cleared for her Women’s Tag Team Championship match with Asuka at WWE TLC. However, Asuka had a plan in the form of an old rival. At TLC, Charlotte Flair made her return, teaming with Asuka to become the new Women’s Tag Team Champions.

Charlotte Flair has been absent from WWE programming since June. Ironically enough, this was in a backstage brawl with Nia Jax on the June 22nd episode of RAW. Earlier that night, Flair suffered a loss to Asuka. As Flair was being interviewed post-match, Jax attacked her from behind. During the brawl, Jax attacked Flair’s already injured arm, sidelining the former multi-time Women’s Champion for several months.

During the Women’s Tag Team Championship match, Flair looked as though she hadn’t missed a beat. She proved formidable against the champions. Furthermore, despite being rivals with Asuka in the past, Flair was able to work well with the reigning RAW Women’s Champion. From her signature chops to the Figure-Eight Leglock, “The Queen” fired on all cylinders. However, the champions were strong, Jax laying out Flair with a Samoan drop and Baszler trapping Asuka in the Kirifuda Clutch. The match would conclude when Flair fought out of Baszler’s Kirifuda Clutch, following up with Natural Selection for the win.

With this victory, Charlotte Flair is a one-time WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion. To say that Flair is a decorated WWE Superstar would be an understatement. Over the course of her career, she has been a two-time NXT Champion, five-time SmackDown Women’s Champion, and four-time RAW Women’s Champion. Additionally, Flair won the 2020 Women’s Royal Rumble match. Alongside Asuka, one must wonder what the future holds for “The Queen.” Expect Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler to seek the Women’s Tag Team Championship once more.
