Earlier today, a match change was announced for the upcoming GCW For The Culture event. Originally, Will Hobbs was set to face off against Calvin Tankman at the event in question. However, Hobbs will be unable to make the show. However, Tankman will still have a tall challenge on his hands at For The Culture. Standing across the ring from the former Black Label Pro Heavyweight Champion will be “That Dude,” Jon Davis.
Hailing from Jacksonville, Florida, Jon Davis got his start in professional wrestling in 2002. He trained under Chris Turner and the legendary Dory Funk Jr. From there, Davis began to make his rounds throughout the independent scene, starting with !Bang!, Funk’s promotion. Other promotions Davis appeared for, in his early years in wrestling, included Spinebuster Championship Wrestling and Full Impact Pro. It was in FIP where he saw much of his success, winning the promotion’s Florida Heritage and World Heavyweight Champions twice each.
Davis’ greatest worldwide recognition was yet to come, however. Starting in 2009, alongside tag team partner Kory Chavis, Davis started appearing for Ring of Honor. During their time in ROH, they faced off against such teams as The American Wolves and The Briscoe Brothers, the latter of whom they challenged for the ROH World Tag Team Championship. Davis and Chavis would continue to appear for the promotion in the years that followed. Since then, Davis has been making consistent appearances for Punk Pro Wrestling and EVOLVE Wrestling.
This will break the go hard meter. Looking forward to introducing this kid to the old school. https://t.co/TnFvQesHzg

In terms of Davis’ work in Game Changer Wrestling, one would have to go back to 2016. In June of that year, Davis and Chavis challenged Da Hit Squad for the GCW Tag Team Championship. Since then, Davis has been absent from GCW. Despite the circumstances, Davis has a chance to make a mark at For The Culture. With Tankman as his opponent, however, securing a victory will be a tall order. Expect this match to hit hard and, more importantly, wow viewers in attendance and around the world.
