Preview: Gatoh Move ChocoPro #44 (9/2/20) 1st Ring Show

ChocoPro 44

The most interesting episodes of ChocoPro become even more and more must-see. Upon the announcement of Gatoh Move Pro Wrestling‘s latest episode of its YouTube show, it was given a distinct tagline. It was known as the “1st Ring Show,” which caught the attention of many Gatoh Move fans. What would this entail, exactly? Would it shake the foundation of ChocoPro, which had taken place in Ichigaya Chocolate Square since its inception? This, along with the following card, should have viewers tuning in.

Mitsuru Konno and Chris Brookes vs. Best Bros. (Mei Suruga and Baliyan Akki)

Long-time viewers of ChocoPro will find intrigue in the tandem of Mitsuru Konno and Chris Brookes. On the twenty-first episode, which took place this past June, they faced one another in a heated main event won by the latter. Even after the match, they couldn’t help but get into a shoving contest; not even the apple juice offering of Mei Suruga could quell this incident. Nonetheless, Konno and Brookes have proven themselves as solid competitors in Ichigaya Chocolate Square. Can Gatoh Move’s “Beer Badass” and the two-time DDT Universal Champion put their differences aside when they take on Suruga and Baliyan Akki?

Best Bros. is among the most recognizable tandem in ChocoPro, not only due to their success as a team but their undeniable charisma away from the iconic brown mat. They know each other as well as they know themselves at times, which makes them that much more of a solid tandem. Needless to say, Konno and Brookes will have to work especially hard if they have any chance of defeating one of the most dominant teams in Gatoh Move history.

Yuna Mizumori vs. Hagane Shinnou

The Emi Sakura 25th anniversary edition of ChocoPro was a big event for these two. On one side, Yuna Mizumori teamed with SAKI, reforming Tropikawild, in order to win a three-way tag team match. Mizumori and SAKI are perhaps the most successful team in Gatoh Move history, having won the Asia Dream Tag Team Championship as a tandem twice. On this night, however, the “Pineapple Girl” will be flying solo, as she will have to rely on her own strength and explosive offense to take on another individual that saw success at the aforementioned moment.

The last time Hagane Shinnou was in Ichigaya Chocolate Square, he faced Baliyan Akki in singles competition. This was a hard-hitting affair that saw Shinnou defeat the “Ace” of ChocoPro. As a former two-time Independent Junior Heavyweight Champion, overcoming Shinnou will be no small feat. In fact, Yunamon will have to be at the top of her game if she stands a chance of evading his hellacious kicks and quick-paced aerial offense. This will be another bout to keep an eye on.

Pencil Army (Emi Sakura and Lulu Pencil) vs. Sayaka Obihiro and Chie Koishikawa (ChocoPro Debut)

This will be a monumental episode, as it will feature the ChocoPro debut and Gatoh Move return of Chie Koishikawa. As a former fencer, Koishikawa was part of the same class of rookies that featured Sayaka, Sayuri, Rin Rin, Tokiko Kirihara, and Lulu Pencil. Koishikawa developed undeniable charisma and a wrestling style that featured sword-like chops. Her last Gatoh Move appearance took place this past March, when she won a six-person tag team match alongside Makoto and Kuishinbo Kamen. On this night, she will team with Sayaka Obihiro, one of the pillars of Gatoh Move, to take on a beloved tandem.

Through highs and lows – mostly lows – the duo of Emi Sakura and Lulu Pencil has remained steadfast. Their earnest attitudes and crafty offense have led to many a comedic moment. With that said, they have yet to kick up a victory as a team. One would hope that, given the importance of this ChocoPro event, Pencil Army will put forth their best effort. They will have to bring together their individual strengths and the support of the ChocoPro faithful if they stand a chance of coming out victorious.

ChocoPro #44 will air on September 2nd at 8 PM JST (12:00PM BST and 7:00AM EST.)

It will air live on the Gatoh Move YouTube channel for free before being available for on-demand viewing afterward. To support the company, you can sign up for their Patreon, which features multiple tiers, or their own on-demand streaming service linked below.
