28 people entered their names into the King of DDT bracket with the right to challenge the KO-D champion at Ultimate Party 2020 and 1 Million Yen on the line. On Sunday only four were still standing, at the end of the night, only one man stood. That man being the KO-D Openweight champion Tetsuya Endo.
Tetsuya Endo had a rough start losing to Akito in the first round, this allowed him entry into the Dramatic Challenge battle royal. He won, beat Minoru Tanaka in the quarter-finals. He faced off against Kazusada Higuchi in the Semifinals and in the end, it came down to Tetsuya Endo vs T-Hawk. Continuing a dominant tradition of at least one DAMNATION member making it to the finals of King of DDT. One Animal Crossing New Horizons and Tetsuya In The Sky later and he was named King of DDT. Making up for his loss in the finals last year against Konosuke Takeshita.
As the champion was the winner of the tournament this year, Endo was able to handpick his challenger for Ultimate Party 2020. And he named Kenny Omega as his challenger. Immediately expectations were tempered as he was warned that with current travel restrictions that might not be possible so Endo should have a backup plan in mind. And this was confirmed via a video posted by Kenny Omega on DDT’s youtube channel. Where he confirmed that he wouldn’t be able to make it, but does want the match down the line.
So that leaves the King of DDT Tetsuya Endo with the backup plan. Which he will announce on the September 7th Korakuen show. So far all of the hints he has given as to the identity of the person have been generally him talking about models and other women that he is interested in. Putting more eyes onto the Champion’s words come September 7th.
