Tokyo Princess Cup Participants Announced

TJPW Tokyo Princess Cup Brackets

At the same time as the King of DDT tournament, Dramatic Dream Team’s (DDT) sister promotion Tokyo Joshi Pro Wrestling (TJPW) will host their own tournament called the Tokyo Princess Cup. The single-elimination tournament has been around for a majority of the promotion’s history starting in 2014; it has been an annual event ever since. The original prize for the tournament was to name any match they wanted or produce an event. This was swapped for a championship match once the Tokyo Princess of Princess Title was introduced.

During TOKYO JOSHI PRO “BRAND NEW WRESTLING 4 ~TAKE NOT, BUT GIVE~” the twenty-one competitors were named for the tournament.

  • Yuka Sakazaki
  • Rika Tatsumi
  • Miu Watanabe
  • Shoko Nakajima
  • Miyu Yamashita
  • Maki Itoh
  • Natsumi Maki
  • Mizuki
  • Hyper Misao
  • Nodoka Tenma
  • Yuki Aino
  • Hikari Noa
  • Raku
  • Yuki Kamifuki
  • Mina Shirakawa
  • Haruna Neko
  • Pom Harajuku
  • Mahiro Kiryu
  • Himawari Unagi
  • Mirai Maiumi
  • Suzumi

The tournament will take place over six different shows. Opening rounds will take place on August 8th, 9th, 10th, 15th, and 16th at Kanda Miyojin Hall. The finals will wrap things up on the 29th at Shinjuku FACE.

While the dates are announced, placement in the bracket is currently blank. This is crucial as there are multiple byes within the tournament due to the unusual amount of people in the tournament. However, there are some very notable names in the tournament. One such name is the current Princess of Princess Champion, Yuka Sakazaki, who has stated she wishes to win to prevent any other challengers. There are also two prior Tokyo Princess Cup winners in Mizuki and Shoko Nakajima, along with other names who have started gaining familiarity in America such as Miyu Yamashita and Maki Itoh, mostly thanks to their showings at English speaking shows such as DDT’s Coming to America where they were the TJPW reps.
