Long-time ROH fans are familiar with Sumie Sakai and her efforts in the company.
The 48-year-old joshi star made history by becoming the company’s first-ever Women of Honor World Champion. She held the title for 251 days – the longest of any Women of Honor World Titleholder – before dropping it to Kelly Klein. In addition to Japan, wrestling for promotions such as JDStar, Sakai worked for companies around the world. She even held the PCW Ultra Women’s Championship.
In the past couple of weeks, it was speculated that Kellyanne was either close to signing a deal with ROH or was on her way to the promotion in question. This was spurred by PWInsider before a number of other publications covered the story. It’s important to note that, as of this story, ROH has not confirmed its signing of Kellyanne. However, it’s safe to say that her participation in the Women’s World Championship Tournament this spring could be a launchpad of sorts.
