Dramatic Dream Team (DDT) so far has had a strong showing. However with the emergence of a new faction in Eruption and a shock new KO-D Openweight champion. The landscape of the company has already changed dramatically. They look to Saitama Super Arena, but there are many stops along the way. One of those being this Sunday, DDT Into The Fight 2020.
Mad Paulie vs Yukio Naya vs Keigo Nakamura
Two of the younger class of talents in Naya and Nakamura are put in the ring with a veteran in DAMNATION’s Mad Paulie. Keigo Nakamura has not been wrestling long with less than a year under his belt. However, he has been trusted to put on matches with big names. Whereas Yukio Naya, despite only having 2 years under his belt, has traveled through many companies like Wrestle-1 and Real Japan Pro Wrestling. At DDT Into The Fight, it’s a showcase match with some of the newer talent of DDT.
Eruption (Kazusada Higuchi, Yukio Sakaguchi & Saki Akai) Vs Toru Owashi, Naomi Yoshimura & Mizuki Watase
Eruption formed with a promise to protect DDT’s old ways, but move it forward with new ideas. They made an immediate splash defeating the ALL OUT unit. This time, they have an equally difficult task set out before them. Mizuki Watase is a very talented wrestler and former six-man tag champion. Toru Owashi is a former KO-D champion among many other titles, and Naomi Yoshimura is one-half of the current KO-D Tag Champions as part of Nautilus.
Danshoku Dieno, Super Sasadango Machine & Yasu Urano Vs Shinya Aoki, Hiroshi Yamato & Kazuki Hirata
The team of Danshoku Dieno, Super Sasadano Machine, and Yasu Urano is not only a team of comedic proportions but a team of long-standing veterans in the company of DDT. They take on some stiff competition in Shinya Aoki who is an MMA expert having competed in companies like RIZIN. Hiroshi Yamato has had success in All Japan Pro Wrestling (AJPW) and Wrestle-1‘s Junior Divisions. The last is a DDT mainstay – Kazuki Hirata and his Magnum Tokyo gimmick. These are very interesting matchups, but another twist to the match is if Dieno is the one who takes the fall, he will lose the Anytime, Anywhere gauntlet he recently acquired.
HARASHIMA & Yuki Ueno Vs CIMA & Soma Takao Vs Masahiro Takanashi & Makoto Oishi
DISASTER BOX faces off against DAMNATION against a mashup team. HARASHIMA and Yuki Ueno are a powerful duo, but HARASHIMA’s focus seems to be more upon the Extreme Title and rebuilding after his loss at SWEET DREAMS 2020. DAMNATION is another interesting unit at the moment, having just paired up with Strong Hearts. Their unit could be all the stronger for it but this match could be a test of it. As for Takanashi and Oishi, they are no slouches themselves. Takanashi is finding recent success as part of the Calamari Drunken Kings with Chris Brookes. Meanwhile, Oishi is a former tag champion of multiple varieties.
Elimination Match: Daisuke Sasaki, Tetsuya Endo, T-Hawk & El Lindman Vs Akito, Shunma Katsumata, Yuki Iino & Chihiro Hashimoto
If the three-way tag was a small test for partnership, this will be a stress test as a whole as DAMNATION faces off against ALL OUT in an elimination match. While that on its own would carry some interesting dynamics, there’s an extra fold to this match. Daisuke Sasaki is the holder to the Right to Challenge at Saitama Super Arena Sword. This will make him a high priority target, but it could also mean that the sword could change hands multiple times in this match at DDT Into The Fight.
Universal Title: Konosuke Takeshita vs Chris Brookes
The Universal Title was announced late in 2019 as a title meant for international defenses. Lots of people showed interest in the title, but in the end, it came down to two names: Konosuke Takeshita and Chris Brookes. These are two extremely talented names who are known for traveling the world to show off their craft. It wouldn’t even be the first time the two fought for a title, as pretty soon after Chris Brookes’ debut in DDT, he challenged Takeshita in a losing effort for the KO-D Openweight title. Brookes is looking to correct that error to become the first-ever Universal Champion. Takeshita, at the same time, is looking to wrestle in other countries and would love to carry the DDT banner with him.
KO-D Openweight Title: Masato Tanaka (c) vs MAO
MAO made a bold move when he first came back to DDT. He challenged the winner of Masato Tanaka vs HARASHIMA at DDT Into The Fight. Now that that match is done, he is faced with a very tall task: beat Masato Tanaka and make him a champion with no defenses. It’s a task that he is capable of, but it won’t be easy. Ever since Tanaka made his return to DDT, has been near unstoppable.
