Ground Zero Pro Wrestling Presents Encore June 15th in Imperial Beach, California at the Imperial Beach Sports Park. The company has become a major player in the SoCal Independent scene in just a short period of time. They’ve given young stars opportunities at the top of the card and their trust has paid off. Their Champion is one of SoCal’s best in “Uptown” Andy Brown and the Tag Team division is deep too which hopefully leads to Tag Titles in the near future.
Eli Everfly vs. Damian Drake
Drake made his Ground Zero debut last time out against Matt Vandagriff and came up short. His results in SoCal have been spotty and a win over Everfly would go a long way towards building his confidence. However, Eli has been nearly unbeatable either in singles or with Delilah Doom as Doomfly. He has wins in Imperial Beach over Ryan Kidd, Jake Atlas and Suede Thompson so it may take something special for the New Age Daredevil to come out on top.
Ruby Raze vs. Vipress
Raze took to social media to “height shame’ Vipress, but Satan’s Daughter has a pinfall win over Raze in SoCal so she should have some confidence. Dealing with Raze will be tough because even in the win the “Equal Opportunity Ass Kicker” was in control the majority of the time. Raze imposes her will no matter who she faces, but Vipress is smart and will need to be against an opponent who has a significant height and reach advantage. How will Vipress deal with the power of Raze and will she be able to conjure up another surprise win?
Fidel Bravo vs. “Dirty” Dom Kubrick vs. “Charming” Biagio Crescenzo
“Dirty” Dom lost his Title match with Andy Brown and hopes to get back into the Title mix and it starts here. Kubrick took down Tyler Bateman to earn the shot against Brown and is the prohibitive favorite when the bell rings. However, Fidel Bravo is unpredictable and creates tons of problems with his unorthodox style. In a match like this it plays to Bravo’s strengths of speed and cunning which has resulted in his unbeaten GZ record in 2019. “Charming” Biagio Crescenzo looks to pick up his first Ground Zero win solo, but it will take a major effort to do so.
The Get Down (B-Boy & Adrian Quest) vs The Bag Boyz (Chris Bey & Suede Thompson)
The Get Down handled The Bomb Squad (Cameron Gates & Dylan Kyle Cox) earlier this year and now take on arguably one of the best teams in SoCal in 2019. Bey and Thompson are former Champs in Vegas and have had their best year as a team. The Boyz lost a tough one to Doomfly in March and could use a win to stay in the GZ Tag Team Mix. The Get Down would love to pick up their second win in GZ and one over the Bag Boyz could solidify a spot at the top of the Ground Zero Tag Team Ladder.
8-Bit Lit (AK Ramble (KC Douglas & Michael Hopkins)& Juan “J2” Mattioli) vs. Alonzo Alvarez and True Grit (Hoss Hogg & Jesse James)
It’s good to see Hoss Hogg back and True Grit in action. True Grit and AK Ramble had a wild feud that ended in a Steel Cage to begin the year. Now that the cowboys are healthy they look to exact some revenge after the loss. Mattioli and Alvarez are two of SoCal’s bright young stars and highlight the raw talent throughout the GZ roster.
Tyler Bateman vs “Relentless” Douglas James
Bateman hasn’t won in Imperial Beach this year and lost to “Superstar” Jake Atlas last time out. After an unbeaten start, the GODDAMN Man hasn’t won since losing to Andy Brown in the Ground Zero Tournament Final last December. Is Douglas James going to die tonight? DJ suggested the possibility on Instagram when this match was announced and even some close to him thought it might. James is still smarting off his big win in Portland last weekend and has to deal with another monster in Bateman who is looking for a win. Both men have been going in different directions recently so we’ll find out Saturday what gives.
Rich Swann vs. “The Flip Artist” Matt Vandagriff
There isn’t a wrestler more popular in Imperial Beach than the “Flip Artist” and Rich Swann will be the perfect foil for the babyface. Swann has changed his attitude in Major league Wrestling (MLW) and the former WWE Cruiserweight Champion hopes to quiet the Imperial Beach fans. He has a more aggressive style and doesn’t rely as much on the aerial attack preferring now to pound his opponents to the mat. The man from Baltimore won’t have to look for this fight. Vandagriff doesn’t shy away from contact either and has no problem trading strikes. Match of the Night Favorite.
Ground Zero Championship – Open Challenge Match “The Last of a Dying Breed” Andy Brown (c) vs. ???
GZ Champion continues his open challenges throughout SoCal and now into Ground Zero. Who could it be? Who? Who? Who? Jake Atlas beat Bateman in April and a rematch of their Ground Zero Tournament Semi-Final would be just fine. Maybe it’ll be someone who already competed on the card. We shall see.
