#AndNEW: Hammerstone Inaugural MLW National Champion

Hammerstone

Alexander Hammerstone’s rise to the Top of the Major League Wrestling (MLW) ladder has been swift and devastating leaving a trail of disappointment in his wake. On Saturday night, he became the first MLW National Openweight Champion with his win at Fury Road in Waukesha, Wisconsin. The Dynasty’s Alpha Male defeated Hart Foundation member Brian Pillman Jr. to capture the inaugural title. It’s clear who the next superstar is in a company that has made a major statement in the wrestling landscape without all the hype. The Beefcastle from Arizona has created his own since arriving in the League and has the MLW Gold to prove it.

Hammerstone Inaugural MLW National Champion

Alexander Hammerstone made his MLW debut February 2 in Philadelphia and made it perfectly clear to the fans that boo Santa Claus “you don’t run my match,” when they asked for him to suplex  Ariel Dominguez again. Soon after his debut, Hammerstone helped MJF and Richard Holliday by smashing Teddy Hart with a chair several times in the ring leaving him busted open. The Dynasty was formed and has caused nothing but problems for the Hart’s ever since. He dispatched Brian Pillman Jr. for the first time in Chicago a few weeks later on television. Soon after, the Dynasty vanquished the Harts in a Tables match, when Hammer tossed Pillman through the Table for the win. It was obvious who had the momentum going into their Title bout despite Pillman’s impressive win over Rich Swann in Round 1. Hammerstone vanquished Gringo Loco on the other side of the bracket.

When Hammerstone signed with MLW, he was not a household name despite his dominant run out west. He proved immediately where he belongs and vaulted to the top with in-ring skill. Arguably, there may not be a better promo in wrestling today. He can build fights with just the mic and surpasses arguably the entire roster. MLW sees this as he’s featured in promo segments almost every single week. The Business has picked up and he continues to show who truly does have the Genetic Advantage.

There is a long list of possibilities for Hammer’s first few Title defenses and one of them is Teddy Hart. Hart is the MLW Middleweight Champion and we could see those two hook up in what would be a big money fight although that’s likely down the road. Contests with Davey Boy Smith Jr, Ace Romero, Jacob Fatu, and MLW World Champion Tom Lawlor would also be terrific. The MLW fans haven’t gotten to see just how great the 28-year-old will be since he’s just scratching the surface himself.
