Preview: Warrior Wrestling – IV: Beware the Ides of March (3/15/19)

Chicago’s fastest rising wrestling promotion Warrior Wrestling presents Warrior Wrestling IV Beware the Ides of March Friday, March 15th. BELL TIME 7:30PM. The card takes place at Marian Catholic High School 700 Ashland Ave. in Chicago Heights, Illinois and features a raffle for tickets to the All Elite Wrestling (AEW) event Double or Nothing in the “Fight Capital of the World” Las Vegas on May 25th. Also, one of wrestling’s brightest young star’s IMPACTWrestling’s Ace Austin will make his Warrior debut Saturday night.

From Warriorwrestling.net: Do you want to go to AEW’s inaugural show, Double or Nothing, in Las Vegas on Memorial Day weekend? Over 43,000 requests were made for tickets, and the show sold out instantly. Well, Warrior Wrestling has your hook-up! At Warrior Wrestling 4, we will be GIVING AWAY two VIP Floor Seats to Double or Nothing, face value of $325 each. These tickets include priority entry, a VIP lounge, food and soft drinks, and floor seats for the biggest wrestling show of the decade. Plus, you will sit with Warrior Wrestling officials at the show! From Warriorwrestling.net

Not surprised to see these folks give something like that away. A large part of their mission is to raise money for the school where the cards take place, Marian Catholic High School. Pretty cool stuff to see a wrestling promotion work directly with the community, and give back that way. It’s easy to root for them.

Sammy Guevara vs DJZ

Photo: Warrior Wrestling

Two of the best high flyers in the game. DJZ beat tough Pat Monix at Warrior 2 in a back and forth affair that he pulled out in the end. Guevara is the one you always hear about. The gifted wrestler with the aerial skill that’s looks complicated, but he makes it look effortless. When is the Title run coming for the 25-year-old? He had a chance at Warrior 2 but lost in the Semi-Finals in the War of Attrition Match to crown the inaugural Champion.  Should be a good one.

LA PARK vs Sam Adonis

Photo: Warrior Wrestling

Sam Adonis is looking for his third straight win at Warrior and when the bell rings he will have competed in all four events. Adonis dropped a tough one in May to NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion Nick Aldis but beat the former NWA Champ Colt Cabana in his Warrior return in September. He enters this one against LA PARK coming off a Six-Man win teaming with Dragon Lee and Ultimo Dragon. The luchador legend returns to Chicago to face Adonis. LA PARK has evolved over the years, but he is still very dangerous. He’s not the high flyer he was, but he’s stronger and much more difficult to take down. This is a sleeper.

Six-Man Tag Team Match: “All Ego” Ethan Page & The Space Pirates (Shane Sabre & Space Monkey) vs Jungle Boy, Kongo Kong & Hornswoggle

Photo: Warrior Wrestling

A wild match that will be a lot of fun. It features one of the top prospects in the sport, and new AEW signing, Jungle Boy teams up with former WWE star Hornswoggle and IMPACT’s absent monster Kongo Kong presenting three different styles to deal with. They take on IMPACT Wrestling star “All Ego” Ethan Page who also has a pretty cool Vlog, and The Space Pirates. The Pirates have a unique gimmick and win Titles. They’re the Alpha-1 Wrestling (A-1) Tag Team Champs and less than a week ago won the Black Label Pro (BLP) Tag belts.

Brian Pillman Jr. vs The Ego Robert Anthony

Photo: Warrior Wrestling

Pillman Jr. looks for revenge after Anthony and Frank The Clown cost him at Warrior 3. The second generation star is one of the hottest names in the business and looks to continue his rise at the expense of his nemesis. Anthony already knows he’s gotten under Pillman’s skin and will look to take full advantage of it. Frank The Clown is a constant problem, so you can hope Pillman Jr. has a plan for the deterrence.

Freelance Title Match: Kylie Rae (c) vs Britt Baker

Photo: Warrior Wrestling

Two ladies looking for Warrior Wrestling wins in Baker and Rae who both lost last time out in Warrior 3. Baker has yet to win in a Warrior ring, but taking the Freelance Belt from Rae would fix all that. Both of these ladies signed with AEW earlier this year, and this is a precursor to their contest in May. Any psychological advantage they can take into their AEW Triple Threat (which will include Nyla Rose) match would be huge. Chicago native Rae seemingly holds every belt that matters in the Windy City and the hometown advantage may be just enough to help her retain the Freelance Gold.

Austin Aries vs Eddie Edwards

Photo: Warrior Wrestling

In what’s being billed as a “pure wrestling match” two of IMPACTWrestling’s Legends get into the ring again in Chicago after their battle at Warrior 3. Aries and Edwards had a classic last time, so weapons or not expect more of the same from two guys that deliver. This time it’s a “pure wrestling match” as Aries said that Edwards can’t beat him without weapons, and is a garbage wrestler. Edwards’ mat skills are outstanding and he’ll have no problem taking his game there. This one will be good.

Six Man Scramble: Rich Swann vs Isaias Velasquez vs Matt Knicks vs Bryce Benjamin vs Gringo Loco vs Andrew Everett

Photo: Warrior Wrestling

Six of the top high flyers on the indie scene fly into Chicagoland for what might be the show stealer. Any of these stars could get their hand-raised in what is certain to be a good one. Don’t blink during this contest. Swann beat Everett last time at Warrior 3, and the SouthSide Luchador Gringo Loco is always a threat. This contest will be everywhere, so anybody could come away with this one. These matches are always ripe for big upsets.

Moose vs Wardlow

Photo: Warrior Wrestling

The 2x IMPACT Grand Champion Moose faces 3x and current International Wrestling Cartel (IWC) Champion Wardlow in a battle of giants. They will need to reinforce the ring when these two guys climb in. Wardlow can make a big statement with a win over Moose, but that’s always easier said than done. Moose will need to be focused for this one. He can’t lose interest in his opponent because Wardlow is one tough customer. If the man from Pennsylvania gets his hand raised it would be one of his biggest wins to date.

PROGRESS Women’s Championship: Jordynne Grace (c) vs Lisa Marie Varon

Photo: Warrior Wrestling

While it would be easy for me to wax poetically on why I’m such a fan of Jordynne Grace’s game her opponent certainly brings her own cred to the contest. Varon is a 2x WWE Women’s Champion and 5x TNA Knockouts Titleholder. Despite pushing the half-century mark she’s in great shape and is a major threat to “Thick Mama Pump.” Grace won the Progress Title to close out her incredible 2018, retained in January at Warrior 3 (def. Kylie Rae), and a win over this Women’s legend will continue to build Grace’s already impressive legacy.

Warrior Wrestling Championship Fatal Four-Way: “The EF’n Machine” Brian Cage (c) vs Dezmond Xavier vs Zachary Wentz vs Trey Miguel

Photo: Warrior Wrestling

The Champ certainly has the size advantage, and while the Rascalz could team up and take out Cage, the stipulation is that “Only one can win.” Whoever gets the pin is the Champion. The Rascalz may already have a plan for who they want to win Warrior Gold. This might not turn into a Civil War within the unit. The Machine is alone and will need to use more than just his incredible size and power to pick up the win. If he can find a fissure in the walls of the team he can exploit it, but this is a Handicap Match no matter how you analyze it. Brian Cage is in for the fight of his life.

SCU (Scorpio Sky, Christopher Daniels, Frankie Kazarian) vs oVe (Sami “The Draw” Callihan, Dave Crist, Jake “Mini-Draw” Crist)

Photo: Warrior Wrestling

WW4 is billing this as a dream match and it’s hard to argue. Easily two of the top factions square-off in a HUGE Six-Man Main Event. Rarely do you see two factions with enough juice to Main Event shows, but these guys certainly fit the bill. Any of them against each other in singles could Main Event a larger show. SCU has seemingly been on a world tour leading up to their debut with AEW, and clearly, aren’t ducking anyone taking on the Ohio boys. Daniels and Kazarian formed one of the best tag teams in Ring of Honor history and teaming up with West Coast stud Scorpio Sky made SCU lethal. While Callihan and the Crist’s need no introduction a win over SCU would be career defining. “The Draw” Sami Callihan is the guy you hate to wrestle, but you love him on your team because he always comes to fight and teaming up Dave and Jake Crist skyrocketed the trio. The true measure of success is head-to-head competition and we’ll find out if OvE is ready to rip the torch from SCU’s hands.
