Father & Son Gunn Show: Billy & Austin Gunn Headed to MCW Pro

MCW Pro Wrestling (formerly Maryland Championship Wrestling) announced on Twitter today that former WWE Superstar and MCW Rage TV Champion Billy Gunn will team with his son Austin Gunn to take on G-Money (G-Fed & Dirty Money) w/ Kevin Eck & Trick. The bout takes place at New Year’s Mayhem December 29th in Baltimore, MD. Perry Hall High School hosts the event located at 4601 Ebenezer Rd.

If I asked you to name the wrestlers who have held WWE gold 14 times how long would it take for you to name Billy Gunn? Not only has Gunn been an 11 time WWE tag team champion with Bart Gunn (Smoking Gunns), Road Dogg (New Age Outlaws), and Chuck Palumbo (Billy and Chuck), but “Mr. Ass” also a former WWE Intercontinental Champion and 2x WWE Hardcore champ. Gunn has also claimed some MCW gold, as tag champion with B.G. James (Road Dogg) for 28 days, and held the Rage TV title for 84.

Billy will team up with his son who loves the sport as much as his father. When you watch Austin compete, he wrestles with a smile on his face…most of the time because Austin can fight too. He has the power and can punch like his dad delivering booming right hands, but also brings an above average aerial game. Austin Gunn debuted in 2017, and the 24-year old spent 2018 gaining mat experience throughout the Midwest, and southeast. This isn’t the first time the Gunn’s have shared the ring as tag partners. Billy and Austin competed in a Three on Two Handicap in March defeating Adam Rose, Deimos, and Justin Overstreet in Valdosta, GA. The pair were also entered together in the All In pre-show Battle Royale in September.

Their opponents for New Year’s Mayhem are far more experienced as a team but have struggled to get into the win column recently in MCW. G-Money (G-Fed and Dirty Money) suffered back to back Autumn Armageddon losses to Rush Hour in September, and October respectively. They preceded those two losses by dropping a MCW Tag Team Title Gauntlet Match at MCW Tag Wars 2018.

Dirty Money is a 4x MCW Tag Team Champion including a title run with G-Fed. If they drop this one it’s hard to see them continuing to get booked in too many high profile matches. The former MCW Tag Team champions are capable of big performances and will need one against the Gunn’s who might be looking to make a tag title run, and getting their hands raised against G-Money would put them right in the driver’s seat.
