On Thursday, December 13th, Major League Wrestling (MLW) will make their Miami debut with Never Say Never. The card takes place at the Scottish Rite Temple, 471 NW 3rd St. BELL TIME 7pm. Never Say Never is the first of two big cards for MLW on South Beach as the following night MLW Fusion: Zero Hour will be broadcast live on beIN Sports, 5pm PST.
DJZ vs El Hijo De LA Park
The debut of DJZ is sure to be high flying as he takes on Luchador great EL Hijo De LA Park. DJZ brings his electrifying offense to MLW and steps in the ring with a man who can make his debut a disappointing one. EL Hijo’s aerial game is on par with anyone on the MLW roster, so don’t expect hold for hold mat wrestling. This match will come down to the quick hit. Whoever has that extra trick in their bag is the one who will come out on top.
Andrew Everett vs Dezmond Xavier
Two more wrestlers make their debut Thursday night as the high flying Andrew Everett arrives to take on his daredevil equal in Dezmond Xavier. Everett is an accomplished tag team wrestler who has won gold in IMPACT (with DJZ) and Pro Wrestling Guerrilla (with Trevor Lee). Xavier has also been tag champs in Combat Zone Wrestling with his Rascalz running mate Zachary Wentz. This is a good debut match for both guys, and it’s a coin flip to try and pick a winner.
Dragon Lee vs Rich Swann
We see too often that Rich Swann is more style than substance. Swann still prefers to do more dancing and prancing than wrestling. If this was World of Dance, and J-LO was the referee he could have a shot, but this is rasslin’ folks ain’t nobody got time for that. Dragon Lee won’t be dancing. Lee is making his debut in Miami, and looks to visit the winning side of the pay window against the veteran. If Lee gets in trouble he just needs to be patient because you can almost always count on Swann making a mistake to cost him.
Falls Count Anywhere in Miami: Sami Callahan vs LA Park
This is going to be nasty. We could have a pinfall on the beach, in a coffee shop, or in a nightclub. PCO was originally slated to face LA Park, but his new ROH deal cancelled that – but they’ve got an even more violent opponent replacing him in Sami Callihan. I was making fun of LA Park’s size watching Fusion last week until he did a suicide dive against Pentagon Jr…. I stopped laughing. He may be larger than he used to be, but he can still get it done, but so can Sami Callahan. The Death Machine thrives on matches like this and will go anywhere, and do anything to get the victory.
Rush vs Shane Strickland
What a fight. Former MLW World heavyweight Champion, Shane “Swerve” Strickland will face the leader of Los Ingobernables, Rush, who is also making his MLW debut. The last time we saw Swerve in an MLW ring he lost to current MLW champ Low-Ki after the champion ripped hair from Strickland’s scalp. Strickland was confused and frustrated after the contest, and will need to remain collected against the 6-5, 240 pounder from Tala, Jalisco. Rush beat Sammy Guevara in his impressive MLW Fusion debut in the Windy City, and then proceeded to call out LA Park, so what’s the response going to be from Promociones Dorado? We shall see.
No Ropes-No Holds barred: “Filthy” Tom Lawlor vs Simon Gotch
When you stab “Filthy” Tom Lawlor in the back you have no choice. You’re gonna have to fight him. Lawlor broke his hand recently, but if he’s medically cleared he’ll be ready to go. Gotch comes into the bout confident, and unbeaten since arriving in MLW. This isn’t the tag specialist we saw for years. Simon has become an accomplished singles wrestler who’c methodical and strategic in the ring. Unfortunately for Gotch this isn’t that kind of match. Any strategy goes out the window when the bell rings, and if you give Tom Lawlor a scrap like this it’s hard to bet against the man from Las Vegas.
Pentagon Jr. vs Teddy Hart
This will be good. The great luchador Pentagon Jr. is one of the few who can wrestle any type of match, either a high flying bout, or a physical war. He will have to against Teddy Hart. If the Teddy Hart that’s focused and prepared is in Miami, then he’s more than capable of beating the Mexican star. How much of a role will the Hart Foundation play in the match, and will it affect Penta? The Hart Foundation wants the tag titles, and if they could do serious damage to one half of the MLW Tag Champs…
