JK Moody, the former Southern Pro Wrestling New Zealand (SPW) Heavyweight Champion, is all set to make his Melbourne City Wrestling (MCW) debut. On Saturday, September 8th, at MCW Fight to Survive, Moody is taking on Ritchie Taylor. Moody is coming off a headline title match in New Zealand’s largest independent wrestling show in almost thirty years, the SPW Southern Rumble (now available on PowerSlam TV). The 23 year-old New Zealand native was once part of the tag team the Deadly Sins with Kane Khan, before turning on Khan and becoming The Antidote en route to capturing the gold. Khan finally overcame Moody in a TLC at the Southern Rumble. Now Moody is ready to bring Australia it’s Antidote. Moody’s work speaks for itself, and it’s no wonder MCW took notice, having competed with the likes of Will Ospreay before.
Melbourne City Wrestling, the biggest indy promotion in the country, is coming off their largest event ever, with over 1,200 attending MCW 100, headlined by Tetsuya Naito, Jonah Rock, and Will Ospreay. Following up that show with some more international talent is a perfect way to keep things fresh. Moody, who has great character work and athleticism, would be a great heel to incorporate in MCW’s lineup. Dowie James and Robbie Eagles come to mind as potential dream matches for Moody in MCW, not to mention the possibility of more opportunities in Australia for him. Moody is very young, and has already shown quite a bit of talent, so this debut can easily be viewed as simply the next step in his growing career. SPW and MCW have done some talent exchanges before, and now with this debut, the potential exists for even more crossover, and more fresh match ups. Expect JK Moody to look very strong in his debut, and no doubt he’ll be back.
