The San Francisco 49ers and star tight end George Kittle have agreed upon a five-year contract extension. The new contract is worth $75 million with more than half guaranteed.

George Kittle Contract Extension
During three seasons in the NFL, Kittle has caught 216 passes, gained 2,977 yards and scored 12 touchdowns. His peers recently voted him the seventh-best player in the league, according to NFL Network. Since being drafted in the fifth round out of Iowa, Kittle has been a wrecking ball at the tight end position. He’s also a team captain and the face of the franchise.
Before coming to the NFL, Kittle was a star tight end in high school at Norman High School in Oklahoma. He also played at Iowa City West High School. In 2011, he committed to coach Kirk Ferentz and the Iowa Hawkeyes. As a senior in the 2016 season, Kittle headlined a tight end unit that included freshman/future NFL player Noah Fant. His best game came against FCS powerhouse North Dakota State with five receptions for 110 receiving yards.
In his senior season, he had 22 receptions for 314 receiving yards and four receiving touchdowns. During his collegiate career, Kittle had 48 receptions for 737 yards and 10 touchdowns. Kittle was also a member of Iowa’s Rose Bowl team that fell to Christian McCaffrey and the Stanford Cardinals.
Kittle owns four NFL records including the most receiving yards in a season by a tight end with 1,377 and the most receiving yards in a half by a tight end with 210. This past year in Super Bowl LIV, Kittle had four catches for 36 yards in a 31-20 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.
