Wagner was drafted by the Baltimore Ravens in the fifth round of the 2013 NFL Draft (168th overall). As a rookie, he played a rotational role on the team’s line, ultimately starting two games in the process and showing considerable potential.

That potential was realized in short order as the former Wisconsin Badger became the Ravens starting offensive tackle in his second season and went on to start 45 of a possible 48 games for the franchise over the next three seasons. At the end of the 2016 season, he was ready to parlay his strong performance into a lucrative contract and that’s exactly what he did.

In March of 2017, Wagner inked a five-year, $47.5 million contract with the Detroit Lions. Unfortunately, Wagner didn’t find the same level of success in the Motor City, and the Lions moved on after three seasons, releasing their prized signing just last week.

Now 30, Wagner still has plenty of quality football left in him, and he is poised to spend the next chapter of his career protecting Aaron Rodgers. Wagner will probably replace Brian Bulaga, signaling the latter’s almost certain departure from Green Bay.
