Four-year NFL wide receiver, Robby Anderson, has signed a two-year, $20 million contract with the Carolina Panthers. The deal carries with it $12 million in guarantees and keeps him with the organization until 2021. Anderson spent the last four seasons with the New York Jets.

Robby Anderson Signs With Carolina Panthers

Anderson spent the 2019 season with the New York Jets as the team’s #1 receiver. Starting in 15 games, Anderson set career highs in yards per reception and longest reception. Anderson compiled 779 receiving yards and five receiving touchdowns on the season. He also averaged 15 yards per reception and 49.3 receiving yards per game. Anderson also compiled 52 receptions on 96 targets.

Anderson initially entered the league in 2016 as an undrafted free agent despite running a 4.36 second 40-yard dash at his pro day. Selected by the New York Jets, Anderson recorded 42 receptions for 587 yards and two touchdowns his rookie year. Additionally, Anderson racked up 19 first downs and 14 yards per reception.

In total, Anderson spent four years with the New York Jets. During his time there, the undrafted free agent has recorded 207 receptions for 3059 yards. Additionally, Anderson has compiled 20 touchdowns, 122 first down receptions, and averaged 49.3 yards per game.

Anderson never spent much time rushing the ball during his four-year stint with the New York Jets. Anderson had just nine rushes for 47 yards and zero touchdowns. He did manage to compile two rushing first downs, but both of those came during his rookie season.

Out of all currently active wide receivers in the league, Anderson ranks 11th in yards per reception and 200th in yards per game. A lot of people would attribute his unimpressive amount of career reception yards to the disfunction of the Jets and the revolving door they’ve had at quarterback until the recent arrival of Sam Darnold. Robby Anderson has never played a game in the postseason.
