Frank Gore Signs With New York Jets
Frank Gore started 8 of 16 games in his 15th season in the NFL. His role in helping ease Devin Singletary into the team’s feature back led to the lowest numbers of his career. Gore rushed for 599 yards on 166 attempts with two touchdowns. Gore also had 13 receptions for 100 yards. Gore’s 599 yards, 3.6 yards per carry, and 37.4 yards per game were all career lows. This season wasn’t without its positives for Gore. He became the fourth player all-time to reach 15,000 rushing yards. During Buffalo’s Week 12 game against the Denver Broncos, Gore passed Barry Sanders for third on the all-time rushing list.
Gore has earned himself a spot in Canton in his 15 seasons in the NFL. He has rushed for 15,347 yards and 79 touchdowns on 3,548 carries. He has also recorded 468 receptions for 3,896 yards and 18 touchdowns. Gore has been hardworking and reliable for the Bills, Miami Dolphins, Indianapolis Colts, and the San Francisco 49ers where he spent 10 seasons. Gore is a five-time Pro Bowler, won the 2006 rushing title, and second-team All-Pro in 2006. Most of the rushing records for the 49ers are owned by Gore as well.
Frank Gore was a top-five nationally rated running back out of Coral Gables in Florida. He chose to attend his home school at the University of Miami. He continued the tradition of great running backs at Miami, having one of the best freshman seasons in school history as a backup to Clinton Portis. Two ACL injuries cost him the 2002 season and half of the 2003 season. Gore still tallied 1,975 yards and 17 touchdowns. The 49ers drafted Gore with the 65th pick in the 2005 NFL Draft.
