After 15 weeks of action, the fantasy football championship is finally here for the vast majority of leagues. Whether you’re looking to take home a title or just avoid coming in last, now is the time to search the waiver wire for all the best available tight ends. Heading into Week 16, you should set your eyes on Cameron Brate, Dallas Goedert, Mike Gesicki, and (maybe) Greg Olsen.
Note that in order to make this list, the player had to be available in over 50% of fantasy leagues. If you’re in smaller leagues, there may be better players available. Make sure to check your waivers to see if there are any diamonds in the rough before submitting your claims.
Week 16 Waiver Wire Claims: Running Back – Wide Receiver – Quarterback – Defense
Cameron Brate, Dallas Goedert Highlight Fantasy Football Week 16 Tight End Waiver Wire Claims
Cameron Brate
Mike Evans is down, and Chris Godwin might be down with him. If both players cannot go in Week 16, then Cameron Brate has decent upside at tight end. Bruce Arians prefers using wide receivers in the passing game, but he’s running out of options. Godwin missed a decent chunk of the action last week, and Brate ended up as one of the biggest recipients. Last week, the tight end finished his night with just three receptions for 33 yards, but he saw seven targets. Presumably, that number will rise if Godwin can’t go next week. Don’t expect a week-winning type of performance, but Brate has the chance to be better than the average tight end streamer.
Dallas Goedert
The Philadelphia Eagles are running out of wide receivers and are basically using just tight ends and running backs. Last week, Dallas Goedert finished with five receptions for 55 yards, but couldn’t find the end zone. Goedert has played well when given the chance and should see another high snap count against the Dallas Cowboys. He should deliver a similar stat line in Week 16, but maybe he’ll find the end zone this time around. Either way, he’s a good play if you spent most of the fantasy season living in tight end hell.
Mike Gesicki
Follow the targets. Mike Gesicki might not always deliver a top-12 week, but he always receives a reliable workload. The Miami Dolphins don’t have much in terms of offensive firepower, but Gesicki has been a productive part of the passing attack ever since Preston Williams went down with an injury. Gesicki delivers more often than not, and a favorable matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals only increases his odds of having a strong performance.
Keep An Eye Out: Greg Olsen
Keep an eye on the injury report here. Greg Olsen might not play in Week 16, as the veteran tight end is currently recovering from a concussion. However, if he’s back on the field, he should receive a decent share of the targets. You should definitely prioritize the other names on this list, but Olsen could work as a desperation play in deeper leagues. If he misses another week, you can throw in Ian Thomas and hope he finds his way to the endzone.
