The New England Patriots wrapped up their final practice before Monday Night Football, and a few notable names made an appearance on the injury report. Wide receiver Josh Gordon suffered a knee/ankle injury in Week 6 and didn’t practice for the third straight session. Tight ends Ryan Izzo and Matt LaCosse both missed practice while Rex Burkhead, Patrick Chung, Phillip Dorsett, and Julian Edelman were all limited.

Josh Gordon, Ryan Izzo Absent on New England Patriots Practice Report, Rex Burkhead Limited
Completely Out – Josh Gordon, Ryan Izzo, Matt LaCosse
Josh Gordon suffered a nasty knee/ankle injury in Week 6’s victory over the New York Giants. Following a Tom Brady fumble, Gordon got his leg stuck in traffic during a tackle attempt. The wide receiver left the game, didn’t return, and probably won’t play in Week 7. In his absence, look for Jakobi Meyers to take on a larger role.
Ryan Izzo finished Week 6’s affair but suffered a concussion during the practice sessions. Since he’ll need to clear concussion protocol before he re-takes the field, he probably won’t be ready for Monday Night Football. Matt LaCosse, meanwhile, has battled injury throughout the 2019 season. Even though New England will probably be without Izzo and LaCosse, they’ll finally get to see Ben Watson back on the field. Watson signed with the Patriots in the off-season but missed the first four games due to a suspension. New England released him prior to Week 5, but signed him back after Jakob Johnson landed on the injured reserve.
Limited Participants
Rex Burkhead suffered a foot injury back in Week 4 and hasn’t seen the field since. The running back was in the midst of a nice stretch of play but ultimately couldn’t stay healthy. He was a game-time decision in Week 6, so he’ll probably be ready to go against the New York Jets.
Patrick Chung was listed with heel and chest injuries, but don’t expect that to slow him down. Chung is one of the toughest players on the roster and hasn’t missed a game yet this season. Don’t expect that to change on Monday Night Football.
Julian Edelman first suffered his chest injury in Week 3 but has yet to miss a game in 2019. While he’s suffered a few knicks and bruises since the initial injury, he should be ready to start and serve as the top option in the passing game. Phillip Dorsett, meanwhile, suffered a hamstring injury early in Week 5 and hasn’t played since. He’s probably going to be more of a game-time decision than the other players on this list.
