Green Bay Packers Week 12 Takeaways

Green Bay Packers week 12 takeaways: The Packers got a big win this weekend against the Eagles. They will need to string some together to make a run.

The Green Bay Packers traveled to take on the Philadelphia Eagles in a primetime week 12 matchup on Monday Night Football. The Packers were desperate for a victory, having gone winless since week seven. After defeating the Eagles, 27-13, Green Bay moves to 5-6 and trails the Detroit Lions by two games for the NFC North lead. It’s looking like the Packers are going to need to win the division if they want to go to the playoffs again, as the Wild Card spots likely won’t come out of their division. They took a good first step in a long, tough road back to the playoffs. Here’s how they did it in the Green Bay Packers week 12 takeaways.

Green Bay Packers Week 12 Takeaways

Aaron Rodgers Looks Sharp

In order for this team to make a strong run at the playoffs they are going to need great play from their MVP caliber player in Aaron Rodgers. They got it last night. Rodgers threw the ball 39 times and completed 30 of them. He accumulated 313 yards and tossed two touchdowns, both to Davante Adams. Rodgers threw one of the best passes of his season in this game on a 20-yard touchdown to Adams in the second quarter. He had one spot he could place the ball in which Adams could catch it and that’s exactly what he did.

Rodgers hurt his hamstring in this game, but would later say that he will be good to go next week. The 32-year-old is still one of the best quarterbacks in the game and he showed it last night. He will need to continue his phenomenal play in order to give this team a chance.

Defense Better but Still Has Holes

The Defense has been one of the worst in all of football as of late. They had given up at least 31 points in their last four games. The Eagles don’t have an overpowering offense, but it was still a good matchup for this bad defense. Carson Wentz threw for 254 yards on 24 completions with no touchdowns and an interception. The Eagles also combined for just 81 rushing yards on 18 carries, though their leading rusher Ryan Mathews didn’t play.

The Packers still had some issues even though the box score looks good for them. Though Wentz had just a 7.1 yards per attempt in this game, four different receivers had plays of 16 yards or more. The Packers are still giving up some big plays, and they still have some figuring out to do when they play more high powered offenses.

Week 13 Preview

The Packers come home in week 13 to play AFC South leading Houston Texans. The Texans have a good pass defense, but Rodgers should be able to win the battle if he plays like he has as of late. The Texans offense has been a total disappointment this season, mainly due to poor play from their quarterback Brock Osweiler. This could be a motivator for their defense moving forward.
