Fantasy Football is bigger than ever this year with more people yearly joining the fantasy world. It becomes the topic of interviews with players and now that sports betting is legal, it is set to rake in millions of dollars. Here are three Green Bay Packers fantasy football targets and one player that should be avoided.
Top Three Green Bay Packers Fantasy Football Targets
Aaron Rodgers
The unanimous choice for top draft target from the Packers is none other than quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Rodgers wasn’t spectacular last year but was a solid contributor for fantasy teams by airing out 25 touchdowns to only two interceptions. He averaged 20.7 fantasy points per week with a beautiful 42 point performance to cap off the year last year. Rodgers was given an unproven and below-average offense last year and still put up respectable numbers. Not to mention, Rodgers is now healthy after playing through a fractured leg last year. With a healthy Rodgers, he should be a hot commodity in the fantasy realm. He is being picked around the league as the favorite to win MVP this year in the league. Aaron intends to wreak havoc on the league and with a favorable schedule, the star quarterback could be back to putting up unreal fantasy numbers this year. Although Rodgers is an all-around star, try to avoid drafting a quarterback in the first or second round. Try drafting Rodgers in round three but if you really want him, go ahead and take him in round two.
Davante Adams
Building off Rodgers, his favorite receiver and a fantasy favorite last year is Davante Adams. Adams had big shoes to fill with the loss of Jordy Nelson. He did more than fill those shoes. Adams torched the rest of the NFL with 13 touchdowns on the year and consistently putting up more than 16 points each week with a highlight reel week against the Niners with 35 points. He was Rodgers’ most trusted target and still produced even when dealing with double coverage. Now, more is being asked of him and his name is on every first-round draft board in fantasy. Adams is also looking to play his way into a massive contract extension soon. If all goes well, the Packers will gladly give it to him. You should look to draft Adams in the first round of all fantasy leagues.
Aaron Jones
This name might surprise some people but Aaron Jones completes the three-headed monster on offense for the Packers. While Jones sat out the first four games last year due to a marijuana charge last off-season, he still produced big time. Racking off five straight weeks of 19 points or more, Jones played his way into a consistent role in the offense but with multiple coaching changes last year, never was given the starting job. However, Jones has now been given the keys to the backfield by first-year head coach Matt LaFleur. If you are given the opportunity, grab Jones in rounds three or four as he will most likely be seen as the best option at running back then. He is still slightly unproven but has massive upside and is a low-risk draft choice in Fantasy this year.
The Player To Avoid
Jimmy Graham
Jimmy Graham used to be as good as they come in the tight end department when it came to fantasy. This is no longer the case. Graham is still useful and will get you around eight to 10 points but he isn’t the red zone threat he used to be with New Orleans and Seattle. However, Graham did attempt to play through a broken thumb for a good chunk of the year last year so if he is fully healed, he might be able to put up better numbers than last year and prove he just had a down year. But he needs to prove it. I would not trust Graham in early rounds of a draft but could prove useful if drafted in round eight or nine.
