Devin Hester Signs One-year Deal With Baltimore Ravens

The Baltimore Ravens have finally gotten the kick returner that they have been searching for. The Ravens have signed veteran return specialist Devin Hester to a one-year deal.

Hester was drafted by the Chicago Bears in the second round of the 2006 NFL draft out of the University of Miami (Florida). He played eight seasons with the team. He played with the Atlanta Falcons in 2014.

During his career, he set an NFL record in total return touchdowns with 20, and an NFL record 14 punt-return touchdowns. In one season, he tied the record for most punt return touchdowns with four. Along with those records, he was selected to the Pro Bowl four times throughout his career as well as the 2000s All-Decade team.

Hester is a perfect fit for the Baltimore Ravens in 2016. The team has been struggling to find a return man all of the preseason as well as the offseason. The front runners for the return spot were former Navy wide receiver Keenan Reynolds and former Wake Forest wide receiver Michael Campanaro.

The former sixth-round pick Keenan Reynolds was waived on Saturday in a Ravens move to take the roster down to 53 men. The Ravens hope that he clears waivers and they are able to sign him to the practice Squad.

The Maryland native Michael Campanaro was placed on the injured reserve list due to an injury. He is eligible to return to the Ravens as the team can bring back one player from the IR.
