Philadelphia Eagles Trade Sam Bradford to Minnesota Vikings

The Philadelphia Eagles have traded quarterback Sam Bradford to the Minnesota Vikings. The Eagles will get the Vikings’ 2017 first round pick and a fourth round 2018 pick. They will also get an additional 2018 pick, USA Today reports.

The Vikings had been shopping for a quarterback since projected starter Teddy Bridgewater tore his ACL and dislocated his knee in a non-contact drill last week.

Minnesota will be Bradford’s third NFL team since being drafted first overall by the St. Louis Rams in the 2010 NFL Draft. He was the starter for the Eagles during the 2015 season. The team went 6-10 with him under center.

Bradford will also be reunited with one of his old teammates. He played with running back Adrian Peterson at the University of Oklahoma.

Bradford has been an injury prone quarterback throughout his career. He has torn both of his ACLs since 2010. The second ACL tear kept him out the entire 2014 season. He suffered the injury during a Rams preseason game against the Browns.

Bradford was not happy with the Eagles after they drafted quarterback Carson Wentz with the second overall pick in April’s draft. He threatened to hold out and even requested a trade from the team. Now, his wish has come true.

The Vikings won the NFC North over the Green Bay Packers in 2015. Their playoff run came up just short when kicker Blair Walsh missed a 26-yard field goal against the Seattle Seahawks in the wild card.

The question now for the Eagles is which quarterback will start for them Week 1 against the Cleveland Browns. Wentz is battling a rib injury and Chase Daniel struggled in the Eagles’ final preseason game against the New York Jets. Daniel threw two interceptions in that game.

Despite the Bridgewater injury and the acquiring of Braford, the Vikings are still expected to finish second or third in the NFC North in 2016.
