The Bovada Sportsbook in Las Vegas doesn’t believe in the New York Jets. They currently have the Jets as their longest long shot. The popular online gambling site lists the team as 100/1 odds of hoisting the Lombardi Trophy in 2018.
Easy Money: The New York Jets are Longest Shot in Football
This makes the Green and White a great choice to put your money on. Age and infighting have made the Patriots more vulnerable than ever. The Bills greatly lack talent on both sides of the ball and the Dolphins quarterback situation is fishy. The New England Patriots have owned the division since Mo Lewis demolished Drew Bledsoe that fateful afternoon at Giants Stadium. However, age is still undefeated and Tom Brady is done. No forty-year-old quarterback has ever won a Super Bowl. Unless Bill Belichick can hack opposing teams Microsoft Surface laptops (Spy Gate 2?), this questionably legitimate run ends now.
Oddsmakers are overlooking the upgraded secondary too. Head Coach Todd Bowles, for the first time, will have the playmakers he needs to support his aggressive 3-4 scheme. The progression of our two stud-safeties, Jamal Adams and Marcus Maye, will punish quarterbacks in the AFC who try to take chances. Free-agent stud cornerback, Trumaine Johnson, is the first example of a shutdown CB we’ve had since Revis Island patrolled the passing lanes. The Jets also have great secondary depth with Morris Claiborne, Buster Skrine, and Jeff Burris. Its as if Las Vegas is saying, “here, take my money!” The New York Jets offense is also built to support the defense. A veteran offensive line and durable running backs will allow the Jets to play the grind-it-out style Coach Bowles prefers.
ESPN Stats and Information provides us with another good Jets bet. ESPN put the Jets over/under for wins at 6.1. That is a one-game improvement over last year that doesn’t take into account the Jets easy schedule, they have the 25th toughest schedule in the league, and talent upgrades, that will enable the Jets to beat that prediction too. Many thought the Jets had overachieved last year with five wins. Credit is due to Bowles and the coaching staff. The Jets also seem to overachieve when expectations are low. It’s only when fans hopes are high does this team fall flat. This makes betting the over the safest bet all year.
The changes in federal gambling laws now make it easier for most people to place bets. The days of calling your booky from the parking lot at Giants Stadium before games is over. Now everyone who has a strong feel for the game can put their money where their mouth is. Soon, there will be betting kiosks next to bathrooms, but until that happens, the best thing you should do is contact Bovada Las Vegas and place your bet before the odds change. The one thing Las Vegas doesn’t like is losing money. The New York Jets will certainly be putting money back in the hands of gamblers with the foresight to spot a good wager.
