The Eagles may have won their second divisional game of the season, but they lost an integral part of their offense. In their 27-24 victory over the New York Giants, the Philadelphia Eagles lost their speedster running back Darren Sproles to a broken arm.

Sproles took a shot from Giants safety Darian Thompson in the backfield on a run before Thompson’s foot flailed and got a piece of Sproles’ wrist. Sproles also landed awkwardly on the arm and exited to the locker room for x-rays.
The Eagles were already thin at running back. After taking five running backs onto the active roster after training camp, Sproles’ injury will land him next to rookie running back Donnel Pumphrey, who tore his hamstring on September 13th. Thus, the Eagles are left with just three active backs.
Sproles left the game with three carries for 11 yards and no receptions. After last week when LeGarrette Blount got zero carries, Blount finished with 12 carries for 67 yards and a touchdown. Wendell Smallwood led the way with 12 carries for 71 yards. Fellow rookie back and former Wisconsin Badger Corey Clement racked up 22 yards and ran for his first career touchdown.
Sproles will have an MRI done on Monday to determine the extent of the injury and a potential timetable for his return.
Defensive Tackle Fletcher Cox left with a calf injury and linebacker Jordan Hicks left with an ankle injury. Both players exited in the second quarter and did not return.
Rookie kicker Jake Elliott kicked home a career best 61-yard field goal as time expired to give Philadelphia the victory. It was his longest kick of his football career, with his college career long at Memphis being 56 yards.
The Eagles will travel to Los Angeles next for a 4:05 p.m. kickoff with the Los Angeles Chargers. The Eagles sit at 2-1, while the Chargers have yet to earn a victory at 0-3.
