As NFL teams are preparing for training camp next month, the latest New Orleans Saints trade rumors still have the team sending the five-time Pro Bowler to a new roster before the 2026 season. Many teams have avoided a trade before the post-June 1 due to dead money that can be prorated over the next few seasons, but for Alvin Kamara, he’s entering the final year of his deal and is likely to be on a new team this year. While the Saints signed new RB1 Travis Etienne this free agency, many analysts have questioned the future of the long-time Saints veteran.
Bleacher Report’s latest article states the veteran’s projected trade value would be a conditional 2027 sixth-round selection in return for the RB. Would it make sense to move him for that price? Of course not. The Saints would probably hope for at least a fourth-round pick, as the team was asking for a high draft selection last year. However, Kamara is 30-years-old and coming off a significant knee injury.
It’s no wonder that the asking price could be much lower, so it might be better to release him.

Saints Trade Rumors: Pro Bowler Likely Traded Post-June 1
A Release is Likely
The team might have no other choice but to free the veteran. While Kamara said before that he’d rather retire before joining a new team, does anyone truly believe that? Despite battling injuries last year, he still arguably has a lot of football left in him. With New Orleans rebuilding behind QB Tyler Shough, they have other running backs, including Devin Neal and Kendre Miller, who is fighting for his career.
The Saints are no longer closer to Super Bowl contention, and it doesn’t make sense to hold their five-time Pro Bowler hostage. There’s no doubt that he’d join a contender, and he’s been connected to a few so far.
Two Suitors Emerge
The Green Bay Packers are looking to add an RB after starter Josh Jacobs faced legal trouble this offseason. While the hope is that he can stay out of trouble, they re-signed Chris Brooks. At the same time, they lost Emanuel Wilson, but this gives MarShawn Lloyd a larger opportunity to at least compete with Brooks. Kamara would be the perfect match behind Jacobs as a downhill runner to haul in those extra yards.
Meanwhile, a reunion between the Saints veteran and former head coach Sean Payton makes perfect sense. Despite re-signing JK Dobbins, they’d need a healthier RB. RJ Harvey had a promising 2025 season when Dobbins was out, but he could always use more help. This is where the Saints RB can step in and involve himself in an offense that’s familiar due to his bond with Payton.
However, here are two other fits from an LWOS expert.
Other Fits
Baltimore Ravens
While Derrick Henry and Justice Hill are penciled as the top starters for Baltimore’s ground game, they could be in the market for another veteran RB. After letting Keaton Mitchell walk to the Los Angeles Chargers in free agency, there is room for improvement here. Even though Rasheen Ali is entering a pivotal third year, the team also wants to win a championship.
With Lamar Jackson probably playing his last two seasons as a Raven, why not pair Henry with Kamara to build one of the most ferocious run games in the league?
Kansas City Chiefs
Could the Kansas City Chiefs steal away the top veteran before the 2026 season? Of course. The Chiefs are entering a campaign with a lackluster aerial attack despite Xavier Worthy showing improvement. Rashee Rice is probably cut after the season if he doesn’t improve or continues to be in legal trouble. To make life easier for Patrick Mahomes, Kenneth Walker and Kamara in one backfield sounds like a true powerhouse threat.
