Stefon Diggs

Ravens, Chiefs Rumored To Be Interested in Stefon Diggs

Stefon Diggs is the best free agent wide receiver on the open market and, now that he’s been cleared of his legal issues, could start receiving some attention on the open market. After tearing his ACL in 2024, the four-time Pro Bowler needed to prove that he could still play at a high level and signed what was essentially a one-year contract with the New England Patriots. This proved to be a great investment, as the wideout quickly became quarterback Drake Maye’s favorite target and finished the season with 85 receptions for 1,013 yards and four touchdowns.

While he wasn’t the unstoppable force he was in the late 2010s and early 2020s, Stefon Diggs proved he can still be a 1,000-yard threat in the right environment. Despite his strong season, New England released him after the year due to his high cap hit and the (at the time) pending legal charges. However, the court found Diggs not guilty, which means nothing is stopping him from signing with a new team. While a reunion with the Patriots is always possible, ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler recently went on SportsCenter and reported two AFC contenders could pursue the wideout.

Ravens, Chiefs Looking For Wide Receivers; Could Target Stefon Diggs

During his time on the air, Fowler said that the Chiefs and Ravens are pursuing another free agent wide receiver. While the NFL analyst didn’t specifically mention Stefon Diggs by name, it’s safe to assume he’s at least being considered by these two teams. After all, the only other free agent wide receivers of note are Tyreek Hill and Deebo Samuel, and Diggs had a better 2025 than either player.

To be frank, it’s easy to see why both teams could be interested in Stefon Diggs. The Baltimore Ravens have a good WR1 in Zay Flowers, as the two-time Pro Bowler is coming off an impressive 86-catch, 1,211-yard season. However, the rest of the depth chart leaves something to be desired. Rashod Bateman has yet to prove he can be a consistent part of this passing attack, while the rest of the receiving options are either unproven youngsters or unremarkable veterans. Diggs is probably better as a WR2 at this point in his career and could provide star quarterback Lamar Jackson with another reliable set of hands.

The Kansas City Chiefs, meanwhile, must make life as easy as possible for Patrick Mahomes as he recovers from a torn ACL. Rashee Rice is more than capable of being the top option in this passing attack, and his ability to quickly get open should help Mahomes avoid unnecessary contact. However, first-round pick Xavier Worthy has yet to justify his draft capital, and while Travis Kelce is still one of the league’s better tight ends, he’s not the player he used to be. If the Chiefs don’t sign Tyreek Hill, Stefon Diggs would be a perfect intermediate threat for this offense.

Patriots Reunion

Even though the Patriots released Stefon Diggs, the two sides ended things on good terms, and recent Instagram comments suggest the wide receiver would be happy to return to New England. If the regular season started tomorrow, New England would probably pursue the veteran, as the top of the wide receiver depth chart needs some work. Romeo Doubs, Kayshon Boutte, and Demario Douglas are all fine players, but they shouldn’t be the top option in any passing attack.

However, the regular season does not start tomorrow, and the Patriots will almost certainly trade for A.J. Brown after June 1st. The Eagles spent the entire offseason adding talent at the wide receiver position, and Brown hasn’t exactly hid his desire for a trade. If the Patriots send a pick for Brown’s services and nothing else, they probably won’t re-sign Stefon Diggs. However, if they trade Kayshon Boutte for Brown, then New England could look to reunite with last year’s leading receiver.
