The New York Giants have an abudance of riches along the defensive line, but that doesn’t mean they’ll trade Kayvon Thibodeaux for nothing. A former top-five pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, the Oregon product started off his career in promising fashion, recording 11.5 sacks during his second year in the league. However, injuries limited the pass rusher to just 22 games over the past two seasons, and he’s currently buried on the Giants depth chart.
Now entering the final year of his rookie contract, it’s hard to envision any way for Thibodeaux to see the field on a regular basis. Brian Burns and former third-overall pick Abdul Carter are ahead of him in the pecking order, and first-round pick Arvell Reese will fight for additional snaps. With this in mind, it’s easy to see why Kayvon Thibodeaux is a popular trade target.
The New Orleans Saints reportedly tried to trade for Kayvon Thibodeuax during the 2026 NFL Draft, but The Athletic’s Dan Duggan reports the two sides were never close to a deal. According to the NFL insider, the Saints offered a fourth-round pick for his services, but the Giants wanted a second-round selection.
Kayvon Thibodeaux Trade Update: Giants Asking Price Leaked
If the Giants don’t lower their trade price, it’s safe to assume Kayvon Thibodeaux will remain in New York for the 2026 season. While nobody denies his raw potential, his injury history is worrisome, and he only has one season of high-level play on his resume.
Pass rushers are important, and the Giants will likely hold on to Thibodeaux as a glorified insurance policy in case one of their other edge defenders suffers an injury. If New York is competitive, they’ll keep him for the season. However, if this is another losing campaign, look for them to trade him at the deadline.
