Omar Cooper Jr. Dynasty Outlook Following Jets Selection

Omar Cooper Jr. was the 30th overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, where the New York Jets traded back into the 1st round and selected him as the 5th wide receiver off the board. What is Omar Cooper’s dynasty outlook as he joins a somewhat crowded Jets receiving room?

Dynasty Outlook for Rookie Jets Wide Receiver Omar Cooper Jr.

College Production

Cooper spent four seasons at Indiana, never having more than 30 receptions in any of his first three seasons before breaking out in his final season, where he helped lead Indiana to an undefeated National Championship season. He had 69 receptions for 937 receiving yards and 13 touchdowns. He also had 3 rushes for 74 yards and a rushing touchdown. His highlight of the season was his incredible game-winning touchdown to beat Penn State.

New York Jets Landing Spot

Last season, the Jets did not have a strong WR2 behind Garrett Wilson. They traded for Adonai Mitchell as part of the Sauce Gardner trade with the Jets, and still have Isaiah Williams and Arian Smith. None of those three guys will take targets away from Cooper. However, the Jets drafted tight end Kenyon Sadiq with the 16th overall pick before trading back up into the 1st round to take Cooper.

The Jets offense has struggled mightily for years, and their new quarterback, Geno Smith, did not have a good season last year. Breece Hall and Wilson are the two centerpieces of this offense, and Smith is not going to be able to support any more fantasy-relevant weapons. The Jets locked up Wilson until 2030, so there is no potential for Cooper to be the WR1 on the Jets. Sadiq and Cooper will be competing with each other for targets and production in an offense that probably won’t be scoring much. This was not a great landing spot for Cooper for his dynasty outlook.

Cooper Dynasty Value

According to KeepTradeCut, a website that crowdsources dynasty values from players who use the site, Cooper is the WR34. He is ranked behind Alec Pierce, Jordan Addison, and D.J. Moore, while ahead of Matthew Golden, Christian Watson, and Michael Wilson. None of these guys are that attractive as they are just low-end WR3-FLEX options, which tells you what the dynasty community thinks about Cooper.

Cooper Dynasty Rookie Draft

Out of the ten offensive skill players drafted in the 1st Round of the Draft Thursday night, Cooper should be the last one taken. He is a late-first round pick in dynasty rookie drafts, and I would rather trade the pick for a proven player than take a shot on Cooper.

Cooper Dynasty Outlook

This is not an ideal landing spot for Cooper, competing with another rookie in Sadiq for targets on a bad offense that has their WR1 receiver locked up for the next five years. There will be limited opportunities for Cooper to break out, hurting his fantasy and dynasty outlook. Cooper is a player that I am passing on in dynasty rookie drafts this summer.
