York was named a season-long team captain in the 2024 season and led the team in total tackles. During the 2025 season, York once again led the team in total tackles and helped Texas A&M reach its first College Football Playoff in program history, and finish the season with an 11-2 record. York earned All-SEC Third Team honors.

Strengths:

York is a highly intelligent football player. He has elite instincts and is a quick processor. York has excellent play recognition skills, and he is a disciplined defender who is rarely fooled by misdirection and is rarely out of position. He is a tough player who plays the game with a high motor. York is also an experienced player who earned a starting role immediately at Texas A&M, starting all 39 games of his career and spending two seasons as a team captain at Texas A&M. York has good discipline and awareness in zone coverage, along with solid movement skills. He recorded an elite 90.8 PFF coverage grade during the 2025 season. York is a very reliable tackler as well, and he was consistently productive throughout his entire college career.

Weaknesses:

York is an undersized linebacker. At 5-foot-10 and 226 pounds, York ranks in the third percentile in height and the eighth percentile in weight for the position, according to Mockdraftable. He also ranks in the first percentile in arm length, with a 30-inch arm length. Along with being an undersized linebacker, York also has average athletic ability. He has solid overall speed, but recorded just a 5.18 relative athletic score, and has average change of direction ability. He can have trouble shedding blockers, and in coverage, York can get boxed out against bigger receivers.

Potential Team Fits:

Detroit Lions

Houston Texans

New York Giants

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

NFL Projection:

York is a high-football IQ player who is a quick processor and has elite instincts and play recognition ability. He is also a tough and experienced player who was extremely consistent and productive for Texas A&M throughout his entire college career. York has good coverage skills as well. However, he is a greatly undersized linebacker who also lacks elite athletic ability. York’s lack of ideal size and arm length for the position will make it difficult for him at the next level, but with his instincts and processing ability, along with a good motor, York does still have the skill set to potentially become a highly impactful linebacker in the NFL.
