Malik Nabers and Cam Skattebo to Join Giants for Offseason Workouts

Despite a 4-13 record in 2025, the New York Giants saw improvements on offense. In 2024, the team averaged 16.1 points per game. That was 31st of 32 teams. With Jaxson Dart at QB last season, New York’s offense produced at a high level. The Giants averaged 22.4 points per game in 2025, 16th in the NFL.

For a large majority of the 2025 season, New York was without two key pieces on offense. Pro Bowl WR Malik Nabers suffered a torn ACL in Week 4 vs. the Chargers and missed 13 consecutive games. Additionally, rookie running back Cam Skattebo suffered a fractured fibula, ruptured deltoid ligament, and an open wound (open fracture) that required immediate surgery. This happened to Skattebo in Week 8 vs. the Eagles.

Luckily, both players have been rehabbing, and the team is optimistic about their return for 2026. This week, Giants GM Joe Schoen spoke to the media at the NFL Annual League Meeting in Phoenix. Schoen is hopeful both players can be ready for Week 1. Nabers and Skattebo will be with the team when they begin offseason workouts on April 7.

Joe Schoen is ‘Hopeful’ Malik Nabers Will Be Ready for Week 1

With the sixth overall pick in the 2024 NFL draft, the Giants selected Nabers out of LSU. As a rookie, Nabers played in 15 of 17 games and made 13 starts. He finished his first season with 109 catches, 1,204 receiving yards, and seven touchdowns. After his strong rookie campaign, Nabers played just four games for New York in 2025. He suffered a torn ACL in Week 4 vs. the Chargers.

The 22-year-old has been working incredibly hard to recover and be ready for the start of 2026. Recently, GM Joe Schoen spoke with the media and said he is “hopeful” Nabers will be ready for Week 1. He mentioned that New York has been in constant contact with Nabers during his recovery. The Giants are “optimistic” that the young WR will bounce back nicely and have a strong campaign in 2026.

The Giants are Surprised How Quickly Cam Skattebo Has Bounced Back

New York used a fourth-round pick in the 2025 NFL draft to select running back Cam Skattebo out of Arizona State. He appeared in eight of the team’s 17 games and made five consecutive starts from Week 4 through 8. However, Skattebo suffered a serious injury. That included a fractured fibula, ruptured deltoid ligament, and an open wound (open fracture) that required immediate surgery. Despite those setbacks, Skattebo seems to be ahead of schedule.

General manager Joe Schoen explained that Skattebo is in a good headspace and is seeing improvements physically. Schoen added that New York will work Skattebo back slowly. The 24-year-old had surgery five months ago, and Joe Schoen said that Skattebo has declared himself ready. A positive sign for Giants fans hoping the offense will take another step forward in 2026. The team is eager to see Malik Nabers and Cam Skattebo on the field for Week 1.
