14-year veteran quarterback Kirk Cousins signed a new contract with the Las Vegas Raiders. Cousins, a former fourth-round pick turned four-time Pro Bowler, spent the 2025 season with the Atlanta Falcons but has also played for the Washington Redskins and Minnesota Vikings.

Cousins entered the 2025 season as Atlanta’s primary backup but saw a decent chunk of action after quarterback Michael Penix tore his ACL. Appearing in 10 games while making eight starts, the longtime veteran finished the season with a 5-3 record while completing 61.7% of his passes for 1,721 yards, 10 touchdowns, and five interceptions. While he had a decent season under center, it wasn’t enough to justify his astronomical salary. Atlanta cut him shortly after the start of the 2026 league year.
Kirk Cousins originally entered the league as a fourth-round pick in the 2012 NFL Draft. Selected by the Washington Redskins, the Michigan State product began his career as Robert Griffin’s backup. However, he eventually overtook Griffin on the depth chart and established himself as a solid starter. Cousins started all 16 games in 2015 and finished the season with a 9-7 record while leading the league in completion percentage (69.8%) and throwing for 4,166 yards, 29 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions.
Cousins maintained that level of play for the next two seasons, but Washington wouldn’t commit to him as a franchise quarterback. So, Cousins left to join the Minnesota Vikings in 2018. The quarterback ultimately spent six seasons with the Vikings, making three Pro Bowls and winning one playoff game in 2019. Unfortunately, his time with the team ended on a low note, as he tore his Achilles midway through the 2023 campaign. The Vikings let him walk in free agency and used their 2024 first-round pick on quarterback J.J. McCarthy.
Since signing his rookie contract, Kirk Cousins has gone 88-77-2 in his 167 starts. The quarterback has completed 66.7% of his passes for 44,700 yards, 298 touchdowns, and 131 interceptions.
