Super Bowl Champion Guard Agrees to Contract With New Orleans Saints

Seven-year veteran offensive guard David Edwards agreed to a new four-year, $61 million contract with the New Orleans Saints. Edwards, a former fifth-round pick and one-time Super Bowl champion, spent the 2025 season with the Buffalo Bills but has also played for the Los Angeles Rams.

While the Bills didn’t win the Super Bowl, David Edwards played a key role on one of the league’s best offensive lines. Appearing in all 17 games, the Wisconsin product kept quarterback Josh Allen upright and finished the season with a 70.3 PFF grade, the 22nd-best mark out of 79 eligible players at his position. Buffalo earned a playoff spot and defeated the Jacksonville Jaguars in the Wild Card round, but ultimately fell to the Denver Broncos in an overtime thriller.

David Edwards originally entered the league as a fifth-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. Selected by the Los Angeles Rams, the Wisconsin product began his career on the bench but quickly earned a starting job. Appearing in all 16 games, the rookie finished his inaugural season with a respectable 61.0 PFF grade. Edwards built on this promising campaign and earned a full-time starting job in each of the next three seasons. While he played through the 2020 and 2021 seasons, a concussion limited him to just four games in 2022.

With no starting jobs available, David Edwards had no choice but to sign a one-year contract with the Buffalo Bills as a free agent. He didn’t start that year, but he played well enough to earn a two-year deal after the season. He then earned the starting guard job and never looked back.

David Edwards helped Sean McVay, Matthew Stafford, and the Los Angeles Rams win the Super Bowl in 2021 when they defeated second-year quarterback Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals on the game’s biggest stage.
