Andy Dalton Trade

BREAKING: 3-Time Pro Bowl Quarterback “Available,” Active In Trade Talks

Teams across the NFL are looking for stability at the quarterback position, and longtime journeyman Andy Dalton is apparently in trade conversations. A second-round pick in the 2011 NFL Draft, the TCU product spent the first nine years of his career with the Cincinnati Bengals before bouncing around the league as a short-term starter and high-end backup. While he never won a playoff game, he was a solid starter in his day and earned three trips to the Pro Bowl.

Nobody thinks the present-day version of Andy Dalton can be a superstar, but there are at least one or two teams that think he’s worthy of a trade. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Carolina Panthers have received calls for the 15-year veteran quarterback and would probably be willing to trade him for the right offer.

Breaking: Panthers Receiving Trade Interest For Andy Dalton

Dalton might have been an ok starter at the peak of his career, but that was a long time ago. The three-time Pro Bowler is now entering his age-39 season and hasn’t been anything more than a serviceable short-term starter since the 2018 season. While he may be a top-32 quarterback in football, his complete lack of upside makes him an uninspiring trade target.

Quarterback is the most important position in football, and an Andy Dalton trade could be a worst-case scenario for teams with no good options at the position. Impending free agent Malik Willis is the prize jewel on the open market, and guys like Kyler Murray, Tua Tagovailoa, and Anthony Richardson will likely be available for trade. Maybe a team like the Pittsburgh Steelers could go after Dalton if Aaron Rodgers decides to hang up the cleats, but that’s the only logical landing spot. From Carolina’s perspective, they’d probably take whatever they could get for the quarterback’s services.
