Quarterback Trade

Breaking: Another Quarterback Joins the Trade Block

The quarterback carousel is spinning already, and at least one big trade will probably go down once the 2026 league year officially kicks off. While Malik Willis is the prize jewel in free agency and veterans like Kyler Murray and Tua Tagovailoa could be had for the right price, a younger quarterback could also be available.

In a recent interview, General Manager Ryan Poles announced that the team has received trade inquiries for backup quarterback Tyson Bagent. While nothing is imminent, Patrick Finley of the Chicago Sun-Times reported Poles wouldn’t rule out trading him if the right offer came along.

REPORT: Bears Could Trade Quarterback Tyson Bagent

This is an interesting report, as Tyson Bagent doesn’t exactly have a long track record of success. Originally joining the team as an undrafted free agent, the Shepherd product spent most of the past three seasons as Chicago’s primary backup quarterback, although he made four starts as a rookie. During his time on the field, Bagent went 2-2 while completing 65.7% of his passes for 859 yards, three touchdowns, and six interceptions. He hasn’t made a start in the past two seasons, but he has played well in the preseason and is widely considered to be one of the league’s better backup quarterbacks.

Chances are, any team looking to trade for Tyson Bagent isn’t doing it with the belief that he’ll be a can’t-miss franchise quarterback. While he does the little things right, he lacks elite physical traits and will probably peak as a low-end starter or bridge quarterback. Players like this belong in the NFL, but it’s hard to envision anyone giving up a significant draft pick for him. In all likelihood, Bagent is somebody’s Plan B or C, and he might have the opportunity to fight for a starting job somewhere if the Bears trade the quarterback.
