Bo Nix Injury-Divisional Game Against Buffalo bills1-17-26

Broncos QB Bo Nix Suffers Season-Ending Ankle Injury In Divisional Round Win

Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix suffered a season-ending broken bone in his ankle in the team’s 33-30 overtime victory over the Buffalo Bills on Saturday, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported. Schefter didn’t report the injury until after the game, even though Nix played the entire game.

Injury Confirmation

The injury occurred on the second-to-last play of overtime, and Nix is planning to have surgery on Tuesday in Birmingham, Alabama, according to Schefter. “We felt it was best to tell everyone now,” Broncos head coach Sean Payton said in a post-game press conference regarding the time of the announcement.

Game Context

Nix completed 26 of his 46 passing attempts for 279 yards, throwing three touchdowns, playing a vital role in the Broncos’ offensive performance. Despite the injury, Denver fought hard in overtime, doing whatever it took to secure the win.

Broncos’ QB plan moving forward

With Nix out for the remainder of the season, Jarrett Stidham will be the starter for the AFC Championship Game next Sunday. Sam Ehlinger is going to be the new backup quarterback, per Schefter.

As a result, the Broncos will now rely on their remaining depth at quarterback, making adjustments to the offense crucial to keeping their Super Bowl hopes alive.

While Denver may still be celebrating its divisional round victory, attention quickly turns to how the team will prepare its quarterbacks for the AFC Championship matchup, which will be against either the New England Patriots or the Houston Texans, depending on Sunday’s result.
