Former NFL cornerback Quentin Jammer had a solid career, playing in 12 seasons while recording 21 interceptions, 140 passes defended, 735 tackles, and 11 tackles-for-loss. While he had several strong seasons, his worst was easily the 2011 campaign. According to Pro Football Focus, Jammer’s 49.3 overall grade was the lowest of his professional career, and one of only two times where he fell below a 60.0 grade.
As it turns out, there’s a reason for that subpar season, and it had nothing to do with the offseason lockout. According to Quentin Jammer himself, the cornerback played drunk in “at least eight games.”

Needless to say, this revelation brought out a series of memes, including fans digging up old clips from the 2011 season to see which games Jammer might be referring to. One user found a play where the cornerback committed a costly turnover to keep Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers on the field.

Polymarket Football, meanwhile, showed Jammer surrendering a big gain to Stevie Johnson on 3rd and 5. To be fair to Quentin Jammer, Johnson was a pretty good receiver in his day, and the 2011 season was the original cause of “Fitzmagic.”

Looking Back
The 2011 season was an interesting one not only for Quentin Jammer, but for the entire league. With the lockout preventing offseason workouts, offensive production was at an all-time high. Three different quarterbacks threw for over 5,000 yards, and Eli Manning missed the threshold by just 67 yards. MVP winner Aaron Rodgers, meanwhile, completed 68.3% of his attempts for 4,643 yards, 45 touchdowns, and just six interceptions.
This is one long way of saying that Quentin Jammer was not the only cornerback who struggled in 2011. Despite boasting a reasonably talented roster and a great quarterback in Philip Rivers, the Chargers finished the season with an 8-8 record and missed the playoffs.
