Quentin Johnston Injury Update: Chargers WR’s Week 6 Status Revealed

Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Quentin Johnston is battling a hamstring injury that could sideline him for Week 6’s contest against the Miami Dolphins. He’s officially listed as questionable, and according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, it’s a true game-time decision for the veteran. In a recent tweet, the league insider said that “[i]f there’s a chance of re-injury, LAC will likely hold him out.”

Quentin Johnston Injury Update: Chargers WR A Game-Time Decision

Quentin Johnston has been arguably the Chargers most consistent wide receiver through five weeks of action. Starting and appearing in every game, the TCU product has recorded 26 receptions for a team-best 377 yards and four touchdowns. Thanks in large part of his contributions, the Chargers sit atop the AFC West with a 3-2 record despite a plethora of injuries across the offense.

It appears as though the Chargers plan on erring on the side of caution with the Quentin Johnston injury, which means there’s a good chance he doesn’t suit up. Hamstring injuries are notoriously fickle, and Los Angeles wisely believes his long-term health is more important than a short-term boost against the 1-4 Miami Dolphins.

Assuming the hamstring injury sidelines Quentin Johnston, the Chargers will build their passing game around veterans Keenan Allen and Ladd McConkey. After spending the 2024 season with the Chicago Bears, Allen is back in Los Angeles and looks like he never left. Through five games, the wideout leads the team in receptions (29) and targets (44) while recording 289 yards and three touchdowns. McConkey, meanwhile, has fallen down the depth chart following an impressive rookie season. So far, the second-round pick has recorded 21 receptions for 213 yards and one touchdown.
